Hey guys, and or gals!
Well.... THIS WEEK we got hit in ANOTHER building, and messed up our little medely system.
I'm getting reports that the phones feel "warm" on the bottom, and one guy's phone keeps going to a static-y whining, then shuts off. You unplug the phone, and replug, and it comes back up. The voltage that in a 228 system from pair one to pair two is normally around 26V is 33V on this system. Is this a normal voltage? The input 24VAC from the supply is 26VAC. I didn't look to see if the 12VDC to the hard drive was right. So anyway... Any ideas?

Jon, I suggest you get in touch with Ditek or Sycom, or 1 of the other lightning protection companies and give them the complete layout of your facility and then do EVERYTHING they say. They know how to control/stop the damage. And they do not charge fees, they make their $$$ by selling you the 'RIGHT STUFF'. Unless you like tossing $$$$$$$$ down a rat-hole. Just a thought. John C.

How about the voltage between pairs? I assume this is the voltage used to run the phone-set electronics. On our 228 system, it has usually between 24 and 26 volts. This little medely system has around 33. Anyone know if that's nominal? (In the meantime, I'll be contacting the folks you suggested John C.

Jon,
Have you followed standard engineering practice for
low voltage applications for off site installation?
.... or just maybe you have a ground loop provided
by installation practices ?
This site is for basic programming question's.
You have not stated if all equipment is in same building, or are you dealing with more than one
power sources, from a different building.
If so, you got major problems and has nothing to do with the brand of phone system you are have service problems with.
