I have a KX-TD308 that I could use for a testbed for antique phones. I'm more familiar witht he TA series. I don't have the password, which was apparently changed from default. The reset button does not get me back to default. I see no hidden hard reset button, although there is a mysterious jumer by the coin battery.
Is there some way to do a hard reset on the PBX, to clear all programming? Or possibly is the reset button just defective? TIA. -- Alan

According to the manual:
1. Flip the switch on the KSU from "SET" to "PROGRAM"
2. Dial 99 on the first extension - "ALL CLEAR?" will be displayed
3. Press "STORE" to clear system

EDIT: Sorry, that was for the KXT308. I'm not seeing the method if you don't have the programming password for a KXTD308... I'm kind of thinking a factory reset involved connecting to the serial port and running some commands from there. However, I might be thinking of the voicemail!

From the KX-TA308 manual regarding reset button:

Pressing the reset button causes the following:
1. Camp-on is cleared
2. Calls on Hold are terminated
3. Calls on Exclusive Hold are terminated
4. Calls in progress are terminated
5. Call Park is cleared.

(and most important in this case)

All other data stored in memory is not cleared.

Given this information, I suspect you are on to something by removing the battery

However, it doesn't sound like he's got the password so probably no way to get to program 900...

You all made me go look in on the shelf and for the manual. Granted this is from the TD816/TD1232 manual but the procedure should be the same for the TD308:
1. Set the power switch to the off position
2. Set the system clear switch to the CLEAR position
3. Plug the AC cord in.
4. Turn the power switch on
5. Press the Reset Button with a pointed tool\ (the power indicator will flash)
6. Slide the system clear switch to the NORMAL position while the power indicator is flashing

The system will be initialized with default values.

Good Luck. Edward

A TD-308 does not have those things you mention. It has a place to plug it in and a reset button. The reset button does NOT clear the passwords.

It also doesn't like a 7737 phone. No access to programming. If you hold the reset button down for about 20 seconds, you can hear the relays cycling 1,2,3,4 then you get a solid red operation light. My unit seems to have an auto dial key set with no way to press anything but program 99.

Maybe Friday I can scrounge up a proper digital phone and test it.

Or you can read my post quoting the manual that states this is NOT the case.
