Can some answer the folowing question. I have a coustomer, that has 2.5.1 x16. They want to add a third cabinet to the system. The only set of chips that I have are 2.5.1 x29. Will the third cabinet work ok with x29 software on, or do I have to swap out the two sets of x16 on the acpu's. The cusotmer is a hospital and I can't take them down, except in the weeeeee!! hours of the day. I do have two other sets of x29 for the other two cabinets. It would be nice to just plug in the third cabinet to the other cabinets and have it wtart working. Thanks

is this ECLIPSE software? If so, you can just install the x29 software on all 3 acpu's and upload the x16 program to it.
if you have a spare cabinet, drop the first cpu that you're going to install with the x29 sw on it into the spare. Then upload the program from the x16 to see if it takes. (it should) Just make sure you have the proper options there...
If you can read this, you're in range.

My experience is that the software levels of all cabinets must be EXACTLY the same. I'd swap the chips on first two cabinets. Backup backup backup first! Mike

The x-versions on the IDS CPU were software patches (Debugs) for what ever problem was discovered on that software level. The software engineers at Executone Information Systems never would admit to any mistakes, they would always release a new revision to the distributors. (blame the problem on a new application) Unfortunately EIS and Inter-Tel never published a list detailing software releases with x-versions. I have never seen a running multi-cabinet system with different software or x-versions. I would recommend changing all CPU's to 3.0 or better.

Agree with End.
Backup system, Then upgrade all three cabinets to 3.0.
All should work great, but you know Executone systems.
Good Luck!!
If all else fails, use a BFH.

I know very well the Executone systems. Been dealing with them since 91. Does one have to upload the database on the main processure after the upgrade? Whenever I have done a upgrade on the x series. All I had to do was change out the chips. Not to say I won't do a complete back up before hand. But since this is the only hospital in town, there can be no down time.

Should be a chip-change only. You'll also need to power down/reboot when adding the third cabinet. I'd change chips then restart then add third cabinet then restart again. Mike
