Hi all, We recently opened a new office and are having an issue with our phone system. The PBX is a Samsung iDCS100, and is connected to a T1 PRI circuit which handles all outgoing and incoming calls. When our phone reps are trying to dial an outside number (9+1+area code... etc), it seems that only a few "lines" are available to call out on. Shouldn't the system be able to handle 23 lines of traffic on a T1/PRI? The system shows no alarms and the lines are crystal clear. The only thing I think the system may lack would be a CSU, but I don't think this would cause the PBX to not be able to dial out (would it?). To reiterate, on a new install of a Samsung iDCS100, often a rep will attempt to make an outbound call, but after dialing 9+1 the dial tone remains and they cannot get a line.

What does the display read when you can't dial out?

It all depends if it is a full PRI or a Fractional one. Depending on what you ordered it could very well be a fractional PRI and your Carrier would be able to tell you that. Also, all Channels may not be listed in the Trunk Group which of course will limit you.
Dif you install it yourself or did you have a Samsung dealer install it?

RM SYSTEMS: Nothing is displayed, nor is there an All Trunks Busy tone. Connextions: The install ticket listed the circuit as a full PRI, but I'm waiting on a call back from our vendor to verify. I installed the system, with live support from our PBX vendor. How involved of a process would it be to check what channels are listed in our main Trunk Group?

I checked our MMC for PRI CONTROL, and the settings seem to be correct: ANY CHANNEL is enabled PRI MODE is DDI (of course, since it's a US telco circuit) CH. SELECT: HIGH SWH: NI_2, which matches our T1 span USE CHANNEL is at 23 TIMER and CLI TABLE are both defaulted (blank)

Final note: I have verified with our T1 vendor that it is a full PRI circuit. Could this be a timing issue? The T1 is set to low-low.

Well a very simple but time consuming way to verify that all "channels" dial out is for you to select each "trunk" number and make a call. (i.e. 701 - 722) Watch the screen on the telephone and verify that that "channel" was actually used.

You may want to check your trunk group as well and make sure all the PRI trunks are in the gruop.

Things were just too difficult to walk through with our office manager on site, so we found a Samsung service provider in Vegas and hopefully he'll be able to clear everything up. Thanks again everyone, always a pleasure.

So, it turns out, that it wasn't the reps failing to get an outside line, it was too many trying to get one simultaneously. Apparently the system only has four tone generators for analog phones, but we are going to get a SMISC4 card to upgrade the system for eight DSP channels.
