I'm trying to find out why my laptop can't connect to our phone system. I've checked all setting, but the PC software doesn't see our CO equipment. Version R1 with latest version of OfficeServ PC. Have to use USB dongle serial adapter as none of our laptops have serial connections.
Any ideas where to start?

If this helps.. I had the same problem trying to use Office Serv with my office pc with the internal modem. I then went back to the old "faithfull" US Robotics modem, and got thru no problem. So I always carry one in case, and I have set up my office with a 28.8 modem.

That's what I'm trying to do is connect locally. I've checked the cabling and all is correct. USB dongle convertor has worked for all serial applications in the past, why not now?

Its the software that does not play nice with your usb to serial.
I think you will find that if you use it to connect to the vm it works. OSM does not play with software based serial ports very well.

I borrowed a laptop with a serial port and I still can't connect to the unit. The serial port settings are: Service PCMMC Baud 19200bps Char Leng 8 bits Parity none retry count 03 stop bit 1 bit wait 03000 ms dsr check off
I've confirmed that 2 & 3 are reversed for the cable connect. I've reconfigured the computer's port settings to
bits per second 19200 data bits 8 parity none stop bits 1 flow control none
and it still won't recognize being connected. Are there any additional programming or logon characteristics that aren't listed or referred to in the tech/installation manual?

ok if the pin out is correct and your using a real serial port then check mmc 804 and make sure the baud rate matches what hyper terminal is
or just change it in hyperterminal to 9600 and see what happens

Are you plugging into the correct port on the front of the iDCS500 cabinet? Sorry just had to ask. Check and make sure that port 2 or 3 is set up for pcmmc, also make sure the pcmmc timeout isn't set to 0 or something low in MMC 501. You also may want to change the flow control on your laptops serial port, I think it should be off or none, but Xon Xoff might work too.

501 is set at 05 sec at this time and only port 1 is programmed to pcmmc. Tried changing flow control to no avail. baud rate is matched between software and maching.
Is there anywhere that can lock out the PCMMC from operating.
