We're having intermittent ringing problems with our DXP (s/w 13A). At random all of the IST ports will stop ringing, voice mail stop answering, etc... We've connected a standard phone to the ports and dialed the extensions, there is actually no ring, the board does "click" though. If we call a fax machine that is connected to the board and allow it to answer sometimes this "fixes" the problem. The voice mail will answer and all of the other devices are able to answer. The problem may reoccur 5 minutes later or 5 days later. We havn't been able to trace down what the cause is.
If efforts to try to troubleshoot we have replaced the ring generator and the IST card. Nothing, problem still occurs intermittently.
Comdial tech support suggested next time the problem occurs toggle the IST ringing phase from 21 hz to 25 hz in the system parameters in VMMI, then back to 21. They stated this should temporarly rectify the situation. One tech support person suggested replacing the AUX board. Another suggested the Services board.
Has anyone else had this problem and what was the resolution?
Just though I would try to get another opinion before spending the amount of money required to replace the AUX and Services.
