Have now purchased the NEC Manual, YET even with this in hand I cannot find how to access an outside line without hitting the specific (outside)line key. There must be a way where I can press the SPKR button, dial a code and get an outside line. It may have to be programmed in, but it should be possible.
My ultimate goal is to program outside speed dial numbers. I think I know how to do that, but the system appears to be seizing inside lines, resulting in a busy tone.
Anyone?

Hey PKmoor, MB.3-10 (PG.245) "Co Line Selection"
Make all Unused Lines NIL, That way if you have 2 Lines and You Press Speaker,9 the System will grab Line 2.

Active CO lines must be put into trunk groups (MB 3-11).. If you have three CO lines, then assign them to trunk group 0 and make trunks 4 - 8 trunk group 1. Now, when the user dials a 9, the system will grab one of the three lines in that trunk group. If I recall correctly, when you program the speeddials you will need to precede the telephone number with a 9.
That is one OLD system.

Thanks, but this goes a little over my head...
I have the CD version of the June 1998 manual so page 245 of 373 gets me Telephone Number to Trunk Assignment (CO7) Programming 2-115.
I have two active CO lines on 01 and 02. Not sure which trunk group they are in. How do I move them into trunk groups as you, eriway, suggested? Rickman (hi) what do you mean by default is TG-0?

"Co Line Selection" Memory Block LK3, go into Program Mode, Press Line 3 Dial 10,"01/10: Type MF" in Display. Make No changes for 01 or 02, Press Transfer till it says "03/10: Type MF" Press Line 1 and it will Change to NIL, Press Transfer to Write. change 03-08. To NIL, Then Test by Pressing Speaker dial 9 should pick up Line 2.

After I press Line 1 it does not change to NIL, it shows "01:FLSH 600ms". What am I doing wrong?

My Bad its been awile since I've programed one of these, Same Steps, But to Change to NIL, Dial 0 (Zero) on The Dail Pad.

Is memory block LK3 where you simply assign lines to the system. I have an old NEC to install, and it defaults to 2 lines, and I need to assign more lines. After looking through the manual, I can find no programming that simply says "Line appearance." That would be too easy, right?

Thats Correct, LK3 is for all Co Line Programming. Same Steps as Above, instead of NIL make them MF.
