If you built speed dials using the Abbreviated dialing feature, then the process for calling would be: Press [DC] dial the speed dial bin (which was pre-programmed). This method requires everyone to have a cheat sheet of programmed names/numbers and the associated bin.
To make it simple, how about assigning a programmable function key as a speed dial:
