I've got an IPK II system that quit printing. It worked for a couple of months then just quit. I'm using the serial port (com port 1). I've initialized the system and reuploaded data base. If I switch to lan it prints. I swapped out the cabinet and NEC has looked at my data base and says everything looks fine. CPU card next??

Before you get hasty, connect a laptop to the serial port and open hyperterminal or Procomm. Set Hyperterminal or Procomm to the same settings as your serial port on the IPK (i.e. 9600, 8, N, 1).
You should get something out from the serial port. If you get clear data, then your CPU is OK. The problem lies in the equipment that is reading the data (like call accounting, etc). If you get garbled data ( like "@%%*@" or "yyyyyyyyyyyyyy" ) then the baud and parity settings are wrong (the 9600, 8 , n , 1, or whatever).
If you get a combination of clear data and garbage, then your cable is picking up RFI or inductance. Check the cable for damage, or for sitting on top of fluorescent lights, etc.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response but that has already been tried. I couldn't get anything to print on hyper terminal either.

Can you access the system via the serial port with PCpro?? If not maybe the CPU has a fault..

i suggest you test it with a different SMDR card to rule out that it's a CPU problem

JUNODEY, The IPK II does not require an MIFM card for SMDR, it just requires the purchase of a licence to allow SMDR.
