I have a fax machine sharing a dsl line, when receiving a fax anywhere from 2-10 pages the machine will stop receiving and will say lost connection. The dsl stays up. This is an intermittent problem. Tryed to put butt set and listen if the line drops dial tone or is it the fax but it works fine when i am there. Ran new cable from mpoe to dsl splitter/ filter. Does anyone have an idea what to look for?

DSL and Fax can have an assortment of problems. One problem I ran into on my own analog line was with 1.x DSL speed all worked but when I pushed it to 2.X the Fax started having misc. problems. Turns out that the copper pair did not have enough available overhead for both. Had the phone company qualify a new pair and move the service to the new pair. Now its been working perfect for 2 years.

One should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.

I would have the phone co. come out and test the line. Have them contact you when they get there, so you can explain the trouble. Otherwise you will get the old-test ok at demarc. If you explain, hopefully the tech will go the extra mile. Its nothing to change a pair, as long as it is not loaded.

If is ain't broke, fix it 'til it is.

I know you have probably done this already, but have you made absolutely sure that any non-DSL devices have a DSL filter on them?
