First thanks in advance for any help you can give on this topic.

I'm working on a vodavi starpus sts system. I found the following thread very helpful: https://www.sundance-communications.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=12;t=001549;p=1 but I was told not to follow up with question there.

From that thread I was able to piece together Flash50 programming but I'm having problems commiting the changes.

I'm using
[Edited to remove password]
FLASH50
134134 Hold

This gets me into the Flash 50 programing for extention 134. This is the only station that is having issues. The buttons seem to have been scrambled some how. So I need to fix them all.

Buttons 1-8 are extention speed dials.

Buttons 9-15 are system speed dials to external numbers which have been programmed 9020-9026.

Button 16 is a Voice Mail/Transfer button which the system says is 16MVM1.

Buttons 17-21 are CO lines 001-005.

Button 22 is a pickup button 22PKUP

Button 23 is DND

Button 24 is LINEQ

Once into Flash 50 programming I press button 20 to get to page B and Button 11 to get to button programming

I've fixed Buttons 1-8 using with programming: 0304102 HOLD. I'm not sure how to assign the system speed dials. I don't know how to assign the Voice mail button. I fixed the CO buttons using: 171001 HOLD. I'm unsure of how to assign the last 3 individual buttons aswell.

The main issue however is that even though the programming seems to work as I can view the changes through button 14 there is not change to extension 134. I was wondering if I needed to commit the changes some how... maybe reseting the system?

Thanks again,
Shane from Maine.

The "MVM1" on button 16 indicates that it is a button for another mailbox, not the one associated with X134. I think you want that button to be programmed with 440 so that it is a voice mail button for 134.

Anyway, for the other buttons, you dial the two-digit button number, press 4, then dial the appropriate 3-digit feature code or 4-digit speed dial bin.

I would just go to the phone itself and program the remaining feature buttons. Just press the speed button twice, press the desired button, then dial the appropriate code as follows:

Pickup = #0
Do not disturb = 631
Line queue = 621
Voice mail = 440

Oh, and no, there is no need to reboot the system for these changes to take effect.

The correct code for Administrator programming of button 03 to be a DSS button for x102 is 03-4-102 Hold. Vmail is BB-4-440. Speed dial is BB-4-90xx Hold. To allow the user to change their own button, enter BB-0-Hold.

See what happens when I get tied up before finishing my reply? Ed beats me to the punch! Of course, he's only one of the best guys on the block!
Thanks Ed!

Thank you both for such quick responses!

This problem is frustrating because even though the I've updated the programming of 134 from extention 100. The changes I make show up in the system but 134 does not change the buttons stay the same. I can do do the programming for most of the buttons from the station using the SPEED SPEED method but I need to move the CO Lines and that does work using that method.

I really have no clue why it will not commit the changes.

Thank you,
Shane.

Are you pressing [Hold] after entering the new data and do you get the confirmation tone? It is a double beep while the error tone is a series of six beeps.

That is strange for sure. I will say that in earlier vintages of some Vodavi systems, you had to unplug the phone and reconnect it before major button changes would take affect. I haven't encountered that on any version of the STS/STSe, but anything can happen.

Check Flexible Numbering Plan. Make sure you are programming the right port.

Use Flash 51 instead of Flash 50 as you probably are changing the programming for Port 134 using Flash 50 but Station 134 is a different Port number and Flash 51 is programming for the station number not the port number.

Enter Button programming and press flash 50 hold
Then press the button to the left of the button that is lit.
Then press 1 hold

This will enable programming from any 24 button or 30 button phone. So you dont have to walk back and forth.
