I have a question... is there a difference between the DK40 and the DK40i? The reason I ask... I have a friend who has a DK40. It had a Stratagy DK 4/24 in it. It would not work. Tries to boot and ends up with red status LED and a couple of the port leds and reboots. He had a tech come out and they said the Hard Drive was toast. I was telling him about my very recent experience of buying a Flash because our other Flash corrupted the compact flash card (SSPHONE will remember, It had diffent files and folders than anyone had seen). Just cause, I copied the files from the "new" flash to a new card, inserted it in the "old" flash and the old unit is working fine... Anyway, he gave me the DK to see if I could get the files and try the same procedure with his.
Here is the reason for my question: I have a DK40i, stuck the stratagy DK in it and it booted right up. It is sitting right now with a Green Status LED...
Any thoughts?

As far as the Stratagy goes, there is no difference. The 40i needs to be programmed and told that the card is there.

software capabilities, is one difference between the product. The software on the 40 isn't as powerfull. They added more ports in the 40i and more programs, like *80, and some others. I think you can just upgrade the chips on the 40 to make it a 40i

When we put this DK in his DK40 it will not boot. LEDS indicate harddrive failure. Put it in my 40I and she boots right up.
Possibly a bad expansion cabinet on the 40?

Double check the expansion cabinet to make sure that it is a 40, 40i, or a 16e expansion. The 16 expansion cabinets are not fully compatible. Then double check the cable connections and make sure that there is no crud on the back-plane connector in the expansion.

I am having this issue with my Stratagy DK 4/24 in a DK 424. The drive is toast. I have a replacement drive, but do not have the software to put on it since I did not have a backup image of the drive before it failed. Is there anyone who has an image ( it can be stripped of any personal info ) that I could get my DK back up and running?

I just learned a few weeks ago that there is software in the 40i that processes SMDR differently and can be required for some SMDR software, sold a DK40i that way but it was to a good friend, so no profit.
The 40i would do BRI/PRI circuits. For most office applications the i part of DK40/DK40i is unused, unnecessary.
