I am out at a customers sight installing door boxes and low and behold I can't get into programming from any phone. My company didn't install the system but the Program-*# combination from phone 101 should get me into system programming right? Is it possible the previous company changed the admin extension even though I tried every extension that was connected?

Sounds like they changed the password too for this site.

Programming access from a phone is controlled in class of service programming. By default it is disabled. It would have to be enabled via the maintenance console.

Yes they did. I have interacted with the last company on a few issues and it wouldn't surprise me if he changed a few things to guarantee his company being the one to come back. This is going to be an issue if I can't get in via a PT since the 6 door boxes I am installing are going to part of an elevator call system.

A word of warning.......
Be careful about what you are offering them. The elevator phone is considered to be emergency service.
Here in California, elevator call boxes have VERY strict rules about the ability to be monitored at all times. Including when the phone system is down.
One heart attack during a power outage could be an expensive lesson.

Yes I know we checked with the elevator inspector and he agreed this is an acceptable solution. I even told the customer that they will need a person at the desk 100% of the time.

A little side note the original installing company quoted my company $1200 to come out and set the door box ringing through the programming console. The door boxes work fine just ring at the wrong extension, and since they keep much of the system default I guess programming through a PT was left turned off by them.

That's stupid. Door box ringing should be a remote programming session. $1200.00 is insane. Sounds like someone is yanking someones chain.
