The small company I work for is in the process of replacing the phone system and I really need opinions on the 3 systems we are thinking of purchasing (I hope I can ask this question!). We are looking at: 1) ComDial DX 120 2) Nortel CICS 3) NEC Aspire
Thank you!

When making a list of potential telephone systems, it is also a good idea to consider the vendors in your area that support them.
You could purchase a top-notch telephone system, but if the vendor leaves much to be desired and is the only one in the area, you would probably end up needing all of the Rolaids & Tums you can get your hands on.

You will find as many answers as there are systems. Best bet find a reputable dealer, service is the bottom line. You can click on Installers at the top of the page and probably find several in your area. You'll find several topics on this debate in these search results of the board. Welcome to the board. Looks like we posted about the same time Dex :thumb:

I agree with Dex & Bill, but you also have to look at what features your looking for in a system, what you don't have now, but whould like to have, make sure all three systems have those options, myself, i would go with nortel, but again you have to see what kind of service you have in your part of Texas

Thanks for the redirection, justbill! I actually e-mailed the other thread originator to start a support "group" for people who have to research and purchase new phone systems for small businesses!

This is a cut from my website. Might help.
Equipment Information Equipment is an important part in the decision process of selecting a telephone system for your business needs. Below is a collection of quality manufacturers of telephone system equipment. Each manufacturer produce a top quality product. I personally represent the ESI line. All, including ESI, are useless if not properly supported by a quality certified dealer. The most important the dealer behind the product, not the actual product.
How to evaluate a dealer The best way to find out if your possible dealer is a quality dealer is to check references just like hiring an employee. The fastest way is to ask questions. If you are visiting with an AVAYA dealer tell the dealer you are very impressed with a VODAVI system. If the AVAYA dealer steers the conversation toward his or her product line then that is probably a good dealer. If the AVAYA dealer talks negatively about the VODAVI system, call security and have the dealer escorted out the door. A true quality dealer will never degrade a competitors product!

Thanks guys! The systems basically have the same features and prices are comparable so reputable dealer and service sounds like what I need to make sure of. I really appreciate your input.

Baffled; Your $5,000. budget for 6 lines and 15 telephones is very tight, if your not having problems with your merlin phones, you might get away with reuse of voice cables. "I" would go with Avaya Rls.7 509 / 308 ec w/large vm card or Rls.6 308 / 308 ec w/large vm/card. If you can work with 1- 18 button set & 14- 6 button sets, you might get close to your budget. good luck and as said earlier, check out your vendor. You can always find a good system, but it's no good unless you have a good vendor to support it.
