I have gotten stuck with a DK 40i that is acting up.

I was asked to add a new station to it which should have been straight forward, but wasn’t.

While I was getting ready to punch down the new cross-connect it lost all power. Turns out the power strip it was plugged into went bad. So I moved its power plug to an available outlet and the AC power light turned on. The DC light blinked on and the went. Troubleshooting showed the KSTU2 card was cause the DC to go off, I removed it and the unit powered back up fully.

I have a refurbished KSTU2 on the way, but now the digital phone are not picking up an incoming call automatically when the handset is picked up like it was before.

The are also complaining the the VM isn’t working when the dial the 877-xxx-xxx number which only says they can’t reach that number at this time. I have a feeling this is an external VM issue.

The DK 40i only has 5 digital stations in use and 1 cordless phone which is connected to one of the ports on the KSTU2.

Any ideas of where I should look?

I am making a few guesses but perhaps the voicemail was connected to the KSTU card. Maybe there was an auto attendant that was answering first.

Thanks for the reply, David.

The VM issue is separate from the DK 40i and is supplied by Granite.

What might have happened is that when it lost power, the onboard battery was dead, and it lost all of its configuration.

Currently, all incoming calls only ring on the 00 station port. Calls can be picked up on any phone.

After lifting the handset they must select the ringing line. It does not do it automatically.

That is the only outward indication that I have seen so far.

I have most of the manuals, just wish I could find a copy of the DK Admin software.

Up until Helene I had a DK40 programming doc that all my techs would use and we would modify for some but not often. But having 6ft of water in the house toasted all my drives and older laptops. Lost all my old softwares as well. Sorry

a dk40 is old enough you can program the whole thing from the handset...
and the install and maint manual is online if you don't have it already.
not the easiest way, but it might be worth it to initialize the system and start with a clean slate... not that big a system... and solder in a new battery.

if the calls show up on line keys, but don't ring, program 32, ringing line preference might be set wrong
might also be program 81... default for 81 is to only ring port 00 on all lines.

I would second the vote to program from a telephone!
