I have a customer with a 7200S on v5.03 who wants employees to be able to receive calls/transfers on their mobile devices from the phone system and to be able to call customers back through the phone system, so that their personal mobile numbers are not exposed. I initially got it working using a SIP softphone app for Android and iOS called Linphone. When I'm on the same local network as the phone system, it works without issue.

Now, they want the app to connect to the phone system remotely, so I've been working with their IT company to forward the necessary ports through the firewall. The app connects to the phone system and can dial other extensions and trunks, but there is no audio. Here are the ports that are currently forwarded (allegedly):

1719 UDP
1720 TCP
5060 TCP/UDP
5061 TCP
6000 UDP
6001 TCP
6100 TCP
9000 TCP/UDP
9001 TCP/UDP
9012 TCP
30000-30031 UDP
40000-40031 UDP
45000-45031 UDP

I scraped together this list of ports from multiple old OfficeServ manuals and feature descriptions documents. Am I missing anything? If the SIP app works and has audio on the local network, what could I be missing that would explain there being no audio from outside of the network?

We've seen a similar symptom on older IP Office r9.1 systems where the external IP for the site is not set correctly in the Avaya system. Does the OS7200 have a field where the external IP can be set so as to encode it in the SIP packets?

Yes, it does, and I've made sure that it is set correctly in every part of the phone system where an IP needs to be specified.

For what it's worth, I've also now connected an IP phone to the phone system and get the same result. In spite of the phone connecting to the system, there is no audio. I can place an outgoing call from the IP phone to my cell phone, but there is no audio in either direction. I've also tried turning off MPS in 2.1.5, but that made no difference.

No audio or one-way audio is nearly always a network routing issue. There may be a firewall setting to disable automatic port assignments, which can sometimes cause this issue. Basically, the firewall is deciding which ports to use for RTP/audio with no regard for what the phone system is listening on. This is all the more likely the cause as you have stated things work as expected within the network.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

Are you using the built-in MGI ports or an OAS card?, if it is an OAS card then the 30,000, 40,000 & 45,000 port ranges will need to be sent to the OAS card, not the MP20s

You mention that you've got the public IP address in there. Did you also set the system to private with public in the LAN perameters? Are you just using the onboard mgi/mps?

Agree with all of the above. You also want to make sure any SIP ALG or helper apps on the firewall/ router have been disabled.
