I have a very old 30's or 40's wall phone that requires a seperate ringer box that I bought form an old phone guy who said it would work with my phone. I thought it would be easy to set up but I was wrong. Where can I find wiring diagrams?

You'll need to identify your telephone first, perhaps post photos or a link to photos, and then we can direct you to the correct schematic.

I've looked at some pictures and my best guess is, it's a WE 102.
I also have a WE 201 which, unless I'm mistaken, will work with the same ringer box.

The round-base B-type handset mounting, and the oval-base D-type handset mounting, commonly (and incorrectly) called the "102" and "202" are desk telephones, when wired into the appropriate subset (ringer box.) As an example, the wiring scheme for a D- mounting can be either "102" or "202".

They are not wall telephones. The 201, 211 and 212 are wall phones (more precisely, as above, handset mountings, either C- or G-types) and they, too, require a subset.

Take a look at this website,

https://www.paul-f.com/weHandsetMountings.html

scroll down all the way, and then tell us what you have. Then we can help you get the phone working properly. There is sidetone wiring and anti-sidetone wiring, and those determine how many conductors are required in the cord that interconnects the handset mounting and the subset.

Arthur, sorry, to much going on right now around my place to get back to it. I need to check to make sure, but my wall phone is evidently a G type with an F handset. My desk phone is probably a D type. I need another subset. Are those expensive?
I also know of a scissors phone I can get for $150 or $200, so I might need a 3rd subset, but I haven't made up my mind on that one yet.

Subsets are plentiful. They run from $30 up, generally.

Are there different types of subsets?
