On site putting in my 4th system. So far these have been pretty easy to implement.
Most have been over 50 users. Think I may create a setup cheat sheet.
D Maybe Mr Stuff X NEC now with Shoretel has done any of these ??

One of the NEC support techs had a website and posted a lot of cheat sheets and useful material on it.
He went by the alias of "Mr. Stuff" because the websites were called "ivs2000stuff.com" etc...
He has left NEC and now works for ShoreTel.

I noticed you mentioned Sonicwalls. Do ShoreTel 'at home' phones require VPN, or can they deal with NAT transversal on there own??

I've always used a firewall/vpn.
Pretty sure it could be done, but I do not have the time or patience to figure it out. I can setup a VPN connection in a firewall in less than 30 minutes and never have to mess with it again. My experience with NAT on NEC phones tells me me to not even bother.

In Many cases VoIP doesn't always work well with NAT. Connecting a phone through the Internet is not supported. It would be very difficult to get this to work, if it was at all possible. There is a lot of communication between the phone and the Shoretel server and the voice switches. Even if you got trunk calls to work, intercom calling would be very unlikely.
You will need a VPN for the phones to work. They do have phones that can create their own VPN tunnel, but these require a Shoretel VPN concentrator on the system side to work.
