OK, so, I've been playing around with this system in the office and You Guy's have answered just about all my questions, so, I have another:
I know How to program the system, But, NOT what? does anybody have any " program Sheets" = Database input info set-up somewhere on maybe an Excel spreadsheet to make it Easier to write down what the customer is looking to do, and then input the info? OR: Am I making a bigger Deal out of this than need be? I know there are the 2 basic " templates" that can be set-up and then customize from there, But, I was just wondering If there was certain Steps...?
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

Brian, I thought that you'd never ask. I was hoping for the same thing.
Has anyone done a translation between the 'PGM' codes on the SBX and the 'Flash' codes on the STS/XTS, etc. yet? Man, that sure would be nice to have.
I got excited when Vertical came up with a look-alike program to help us through the transition, but I've never trusted, nor had much interest in their GUI offerings.

It would be nice to have if there was a correlation. Some things are done in entirely different ways. That is why I only use the Admin software, but I can put this together if you really want it!
station programming flash 50-trans/pgm 113 CO ringing flash 40-trans/pgm 144 Station Groups flash 30 plus button or group number (ucd) SBX -trans/pgm 620 to 629 ran announcements flash 62-tans/pgm 191 time date flash 10-trans/pgm 178 MOH n/a trans/pgm 142 MOH type n/a trans/pgm 171 HTP options button or switch -trans/pgm 12
There are a bunch more. Just having the flash codes is not enough...the feature are activated with different flex keys. There is not much correlation. Its like driving a British car on American Road or worse yet vice versa.

well, I never had the pleasure to work on STS/XTS, But, Back in the 80's...Executone had a system called an Encore CX( that was made by Vodavi ) that used very similar " flash " " Trans/Pgm " combo's "flex-key" Etc.
I still have the "tear-proof" handy Pocket sized Programming guide.
I think That is what I'm looking for with the SBX( I guess I can only Dream)

Have you looked at the quick start guide?
I simply upload a database template and go from there.

Why are you getting a bad feeling? The system is okay once you play with it. Have you played with it at the shop?
I'm not talking about Vertical's template, although that may be a good start, I'm talking about our own template.
It's like any other system, you find out what phones the customer wants to ring, what they want restricted, etc... Not trying to be a smart-alec, maybe I just don't understand exactly what you want.

The two templates didn't cut it for us...however after 3.5 came out we had it where we could blow through the install using SBX Admin program in fairly fast time after a couple of installs. Personally I think it runs circles around the DX120 except for the voice mail. It is still very limited compared to what the Key Voice integration could do. Now it's just roll down the menu....system attributes, stations, co lines, voice mail/CCR. If you are trying to program through the telephone you are a glutten for punishment.

Personally i like the sbx. we are a small business and like to sell the 25 phone and under systems.get in and out in a day or 2. ive done around a dozen sbx and had no problems. the v/m could be better and i think vertical is working on that. recently ive installed 3 systems with pri and it is very easy to set up. ive not ever had a problem with notify to cellphone (lucky i guess). next week i will be networking 2 systems w/pri on an mpls, ill post with any trouble i have. by the way i love this forum.
