"It's probably just an open cord lead, but I'm done here."

Arthur, possibly, but he states in the first post that the microphone is missing. Open cord lead would not be surprising, thereby "compounding the felony". cool

Ha!

Found one at radio shack. Popped it in, and it works too!

Very awesome, first time you talk into your first rotary phone.

Just one problem. The part that screws onto the base of the head set (where the transmitter unit goes) is missing. I knew it was mission for a long time, I just thought the transmitter unit screwed into the head set.

So my question is very simple: can I just glue the transmitter unti to the head set?

Oh and for those of you who are following this thread and don't know, the transmitter unit use's contact points to connect electrically. There are no screws involved (didn't know that till today).

there seems to be more interest here in making snide remarks toward someone trying to do something beyond his skill level then in trying to help , even if it means recognizing terms used improperly

is it a matter of trying to show superiority ?

if you have nothing constructive to add then the best course might be to shake your head and just move on ....

sometimes the best response is no response

Rather than glue, try some RTV silicon. Sets up rubbery and if you can do it with little 'threads', it probably wont pick up too much 'handling noise'.

I disagree.

5 Oct: "...screwed into the headset..."

Instead of criticizing those who try to help, why not try to understand their frustration?
