I returned from Afghanistan to find they bought my company, Nuvox, last year. As far as daily work not much has changed for us techs but WOW they really seem to be buying everyone. Keep in mind FDN had recently merged with Nuvox, so Windstream got them as well. At least my job didnt get lost in the shuffle.

Double Thank you!! I sure do miss Nuvox. In my opinion they were the best around. At least in my neck of the woods. Windstream is not so bad I reckon!! However I don't think I would recommend them ever again. I thought I had a decent relationship with a sales rep from there. On a couple occasions I found out later this sorry guy was trying to sell systems to my clients behind my back. DIRTY........ Needless to say I had to severe ties with windstream all together.

You better believe Windstream is going to offer your clients phones. They support everything from InterTel Encore to Hosted Polycom. Windstream direct reps are going to up-sell customers to keep their jobs and lots of vendors are going to be pissed, then the dealer will not recommend their services and Windstream is going to drop them as a non active dealer. No more residaul income...
As you all know any Windstream & Nuvox contract signed the last 5-6 years will “Auto Renew†for another 24 months. It is very hard to get customers to understand this and what they should do to keep it from happening.

Thanks, I know nothing about what the Sales team is doing...I just focus on doing Data Support. As long as they aren't telling customers to expect 3m speeds off of a single T1, I don't have much to say to them.

Steve when they acquired D&E communications they had a company within them that did Mitel and Avaya stuff so I've seen it for several years that they have been selling these products.

D&E also had a ton of Intertel systems out there. Why did they sell there interconnect customer base to ECOM if there going to be selling systems to those customers again. Maybe to weed out the old systems? Don't know...

D&E sold their key system business to ECom so they could simplify things while generating some cash to sweeten themselves up for acquisition.. oh yeah, and moving all their dead weight employees out the door without any HR headaches. Mrs. Brossman would be rolling over in her grave...

93mdk93 - I agree, however I know a few of the guys that went to Ecom with the acquisition and they aren't dead weight. Very knowledgable folks who had to roll with the punches.
It's a shame. D&E was a great Telco. company in my opinion. The best in this area. Since Windstream it's gone way down hill.

6string - i didn't mean everyone who went to Ecom was dead weight; just that D&E used the opportunity to move some people out without having to jump through the hoops.
i'm a big fan of Ecom merely because their outrageously high labor rates drove a ton of CICS/MICS customers to our door.
i totally agree though - D&E was a wonderful telco and Anne was both a visionary in the industry as well as a classy lady.

Agreed! Their labor rates are through the roof. We also have been granted many jobs in which customers are frustrated with the high rates. Cheers. :toast:
