I had a number of users that swore their messages were not there, but I assumed because the "a message from an outside source has been deleted" wasn't there, that we were ok. Now there is another wrench thrown in the works. I am going to go to another of my systems tonight and run defrag and scandisk then reboot and see what is what. I still say it is a software issue and am concerned that no one is going to support these issues and we will have to replace them w/new. Certainly did not want to go through that at this time!

If you change the time and date on the system, it will effect all messages. If you beleive that a "midnite reset" is creating the problem, you can do a quick test.
Leave a message in a mailbox, (let the system turn the MWI on) then press the F3 key and hit enter twice. this will force a system clean up.
(this is the same as a midnite reset) watch the bottom of the screen for the mailbox information. see if the mailbox in question deletes any messages. You may have to repeat this test several times.
I am not aware of any DOS issues (4,5 or 6) that effected the system operation.
However there were several problems with software versions. (From messages not deleting to DTMF problems)
I would not recommend coping file from the "zip directory" unless you have lots of experience.
If the wheels are falling off, Then reload the system disks the came with the VMS.
Note:
Power caused the biggest problems for the VMS!
If you don't have a good UPS/Conditioner for your VMS, Then go out and get a good one.
I highly recommend ONEAC.

Executone/Intertel will tell you that you must upgrade and make Y2K compatable, before thae can support.

I only have one voicemail that is not Y2K, that I was trying to test your problem. If I set the system to the date of 2006 it actually is set to 1906. It experienced seveal weird troubles, within 2 days. If I set the dat to 1988, the problems seem to disappear. It has only been 2 days. So, we will have to wait and see.

Good Luck!!

If all else fails, use a BFH.

Further investigation - the only machine that I am having trouble with is running VX2 software version 4.01. All my VX2 machines running 5.xx or later are working correctly. VX3s are unaffected.
If you are looking to set a DOS platform to the mimmic dates for 2006, you will need to use 1978, 1989 or 1995.

Last evening I was on one of the sites that I have this system on and did some admin and cleanup work as well as some investigating. While I was there I put 4 or 5 test messages in both mailboxes(sites). When I checked them this am they were all erased by an outside source. This is pointing more and more at a software glitch. Stay tuned as I doggedly try to find out what is going on.

By the way both sites are running 4.5.0 or 4.5.1

UPDATE !!!!! After upgrading the software to level 4.5.1 and turning off the cleanup process (default is set to perform a cleanup at 3:00am - after days of research, we have determined that messages seem to be disappearing after 3:00am. So we believe the culprit is definitely the cleanup cycle), the system no longer seems to be deleting messages. We will contiue to monitor. But as of this morning, the messages are still in my test mailbox. Yaaaaayyyy !!!

Brenda, How did you turn that function off. I assumed that if I put all zeros in there it would reboot at midnight. One of the tech guys that I talked to said put stars or dashes in there, but I am not sure it will allow that.

According to the manual for VX2, it says to put in all zeros to disable the cleanup function. Then press F5 to save.

Use it in good health & good luck !
