We have been looking at updating our telephone gear for a while now. One thing we have never gotten a straight answer on is yearly licenses fees.
Be it Cisco, Shortel, Avaya, Toshiba, who ever.
When all is done, we will have around 5000 sets at 40 locations.
Does anyone have any idea what we would be looking at for these fees. We are very basic users, no mobility stuff, no desk top clients. Just phones and voice mail.

Depends on the manufacture. I know that ShoreTel, Tadiran, and Siemens do not charge annual license fees. Once you own it it is yours. They do charge annual software and hardware support fees which are usually calculated by the number/type of licenses....but annual support is not required - but highly recommended. Sometimes it includes "free" software upgrades with new features, not just maintenance updates, but that varies by manufacturer.

This is a question to ask the vendor proposing these systems. They should be able to answer or get a answer for you.
