I teach at a school that is working on improving our communication system. We recently purchased UHF portable radios for our administration, and have an Iwatsu Adix phone system.

We know that Zetron makes UHF>Phone patches, but does anyone have any experience with phone > UHF communications? We're evaluating:
1. Connecting the radios to our school PA (through the phone) so that an admin could use his or her radio to access the PA.
2. Connecting the radios to the phone system, so that a person could dial x whatever and be connected to the radio system.

Again, Zetron makes a product that does just that, but I'm wondering if anyone has ever implemented just a system.

Knee-jerk reaction: If your ADIX has late enough software, the system can be equipped with a mini-cell system that works quite well. That said, since you probably can't get out of the UHF deal, the Adix has industry standard single-line port capability. In all probability, the Zetron connects either through a single line port or a C.O. port. Did you ever find an Adix servicer? They could be quite helpful. John C.

We have used phone-patch technologies from several vendors to accomplish this - basically it goes between the phone system (2 wire) and radio (4 wire). The radio thinks it's talking to another radio and the phone system thinks its talking to telco or an extension. These boxes automate the PTT (Push To Talk) using VOX (Voice Activation)
