72eII. I can initiate the conference with my test set on the analog port. Polycom is at version 1.35. ESI & Polycom tech support were of no help. Question, has any one successfully hooked up a speakerphone other than Polycom, say, NEC Conference Max?

There was a technical update (#219) on the Soundstation2 on ESI's website , I think you have to be running software version 1.117 or higher on the Sound station2, because it requires 2 hook flash's to do a conf. call, there was a work around for this but I don't remember what it was

every time I have connected a polycom of any type to an S-class analog port, the S-class doesn't hear the DTMF, unless you put some impeadence across that pair. It has always been fixed by tech support changing an engineering setting........

We tried one of those , there were two versions an analog and a digital, the analog was OK , but the digital hooked in to a system phone and you had to take the handset off the cradle

Having the same problem with ESI tech support "blah blah blah sure the soundstation 2 will work with an E-Class" ESI tech support tells me. Get it in and my tech can't get it to work. Tech support never any help.

Got the soundstation 2 in and plugged it up same problem as before with the EX model- you initiate the first call and as soon as you try to flash(people button) the call the first call drops. ESI told me it did not support soundstation 2 with the e class because it needed 100ms flash hook duration. odd, 1 fellow at ESI told me it would work as long as the polycom wasn't an EX. Having my boss look at it now and he is getting very frustrated as well as the customer. I've put in 3 other polys and had minor to no problems at all and this is just frustrating. John, I extend my hand and say "Hello Friend"

Wording from #219:
Update: Conferencing with the PolyCom SoundStation2
Polycom recently discontinued its SoundStation1 model, and now offers only SoundStation2. Until recently, a conflict was presented to an ESI phone system when initiating a conference with a Polycom SoundStation2 on an analog port: the ESI phone system must receive two flash hooks when initiating a conference, and the SoundStation provided only one  therefore making it appear that a conference cannot be established. Rev. A of this Technical Update described a workaround for this issue. However, Polycom has now corrected this problem. Now, SoundStation2 lets an ESI phone user press the CONF key twice to originate a conference.
Mike, is this the scenario?

One more detail! The Polycom must be running software 1.117 or higher, apparently that is where the correction was made. If you need to upgrade the Ply software here is where to go: In case you or your customer may wish to contact PolyCom about this upgrade or other details regarding the SoundStation2 unit, here is other contact information for this PolyCom office. Phone: 800 POLYCOM (800 765-9266) or 408 526-9000 Fax: 408 526-9100 Web-based contact page: www.polycom.com/contactUs (primarily sales-oriented)

yeah john that is it. i read that update and the soundstation is running software higher than 1.7 (sorry don't have it right here at home) still having the problem. Might it be that the actual ESI software may need to be upgraded on the switch itself? just thinkin'

Mike, are you saying the exact Polycom unit works fine on your E-Class at the office but doesn't work when installed on the E-Class customer location?

Upgrading the E-Class software probably won't hurt but don't get your hopes up. Just for the heck of it I would like to have ALL of the settings double checked in comparison between your CS & the E-Class. This would include the flash hook duration setting.
FYI-The flash hook duration is a shot in the dark but at this point why not.

John, went out personally to the sit to try to figure it out. well the tech that went out to install it originally had a small case of the over thinking blues. it was a simple fix and all is well with the customer. more to follow later.

the tech over thought the process and all that happened is they blew it out of the water in explaining it to me. it worked at our shop because i plugged it in and knew that it was the flash flash, number, join buttons. I sold it to the company and was out for surgery when it came in and there was a rush to get it put in. the tech that put it in just recently started dealing with phones period. so big problem, little fix. thanks for the help....Mike

Mike/John, I'm having a similar issue with the soundstation 2, except that it's the 2nd caller that gets dropped. It's version 1.20 and I've tried the flash flash and the conf button twice, but same result. Even tried changing the flash times...no dice. Is it even compatible with the ESI 100??
Thanks

olsmithy: It's been a while since your post, but have you tried it with a craft set first? I've found you have to flash and wait for internal dial tone before the second flash. Then dial the second number and flash again to join. If you get it working with the craft set, try the SoundStation.
If it works on the craft set but not the SoundStation, it's the SoundStation's flash duration. Flash times on the SoundStation have to be set to less than 1000 ms.
