Hello fellow resellers, any guess as to what ESI has in store other then the "Y" class? All would be speculation but here is what a little bird had mentioned. Still hearsay so dont count on it.

Soft phone
True tennant partitioning
More ACD features
VIP to work with Entourage

Wish list:
Flexible dial plan
Paging to IP remote phones
ACD phone similar to an Avaya call master 5

I just posted this to see what other resellers have been told but mostly, what is on your wish list.

Any resellers going out to Plano for the roll out event?

On top of the Y Class didn't they announce a receptionist PC type console? I know they have had a lot of feedback about the tenant partitioning and hope to see some additions there. I would be surprised to see a soft phone - they had one in the past and canned it.

2 questions - What is Entourage and when is the rollout in Plano?

yes PC console, have not heard about anything else. last i heard when they were up here is that they were not going to have a roll out like last time this one would be a smaller one and only in Dallas, which to me is a great reason to go down there and have some great BBQ. i think the roll out will be end of 1st start of 2nd. Entourage is outlook for MAC which would be nice but with Mac having such a small % of the market and a smaller % of the workplace market i don't know. now a soft phone would be cool but they sell phone. i just don't see it. i would LOVE to see a real time ACD report manager.i have not used tne tenanting so i do not know.
sorry about the long post all weekend and no pc makes a tech a little crazy

Winetech, according to the documentation remote phones can use VIP remotely. I have tried with Chris at ESI NSD to get it to work but what happens is, we lose packets between the ESI system and the remote PC. Im thinking it may be firewall related.

Roll out is scheduled for Feb. 15th. If this has changed please correct me.

Winetech... good to see another local NOR*CAL dealer in this forum. So many have came and gone. Your website rocks. Ours it has not been updated in such a loooong time im embarressed to post it.

I would like to see support for more than 12 IP phones on the X class. Whether they do it with some sort of IP remote extender or by making the port assignments flexible doesn't matter, but I think this is one area they could improve.

Another would be the ability to do full backups over the NSP port with ESI-Access.

Winetech... soft phone is what you want while traveling. Yes, also a true UM.

Lunch... yeah sure, anytime. We are at pier 17 on the Embarcadero. Cant miss us. Old America True sailing team building. I do alotta work in your area as well. Kendall Jackson and Airport Club are Avaya customers and I also put in a 256X at one of the Sanoma state offices (CIHS) last year.

BTW... yes there are alot of single women at ESI but, only about 3-4 were worth checkin out and shootin the breeze with. Last time I was there we partied with Jason Haring at his house then to some club.

Bdunne... why cant you do a full backup thru an NSP port? I havent done any myself but I dont see why you wouldnt be able to. I have backed up w/ prompts over a dial-up. Took forever but it was 100% complete.

Marlon- I tried it last night and it worked. Must have been a fix in one of the later revisions. When I tried it about 2 yrs ago every prompt would attempt and then fail. Tech support told me that the OS does not allow full backups over the NSP.

FYI,
The Dallas (main) rollout is on Feb 16 and 17. The ESI tour and dinner are on the 16th and the rollout event is on the 17th.

They will also have smaller (one day) events on Feb 21, 22 and 23 in Newark, San Jose, Baltimore, Irvine CA, Atlanta and Chicago.

I've heard that some possible things to be talked about for 2006 are (of course) the Y class, PC Attendant console and also possibly a digital cordless, and better ACD features.

Hope to meet some of you at Dallas.

We will be at the roll out in San Jose on the 22nd. Not going to Texas this time ;(

Winetech... Airport club was sold an IP Office. Most the problems came from the un-stable IP Office platform. Another, was from SBC. This is why I will never again sell an IP Office. We just got Cisco certified so we are going that route only to please the IT guys that play a roll in decision making. They tend to favor Cisco when it comes to voIP.

At KJ we are the Avaya guys they use. Rarely, because they now have a guy in house that administers the system. He use to work for us, moved to SR, and was one of the best Avaya guys I have met. He also knows ESI really well since working with us. KJ has other systems at some of the vineyards and we service those as well.

i am still trying to talk the boss man into me going to Dallas. i do not think it will happen so i will see you in SJ.
i did some service for airport club, watch out for cisco alot of big dealers are dropping it and going back to REAL PBX's
KJ has been known to do that, they wanted me but i have a better thing here, all of there sites are Avaya now but they use to have Fujitsu, toshiba, old partner, and nortel...a hole mix we would do. i still see some of the IT guys around town.
we can talk more in SJ , are you going down that day, for me 3 hours plus traffic is not worth $120 a night

Yeah... see you in SJ. I will be commuting with the rest of the folks from my office. Probably about 4 of us total. Lunch is always good so thats a +.

When did you service Airport? While they had the Partner or after we installed the IP Office? Doesnt matter to me who they call at all. Just wondering what Shirly's up to.

We only got into the realm of Cisco because you see more and more IT guys involved in decision making. Just covering all bases. Ya feel me?

i do not think we or ESI wants to know who p.xxxx is i would like to see a analog DID card so we do not have to have a big CO card, also esi-link for s-class for the small remote branches.all of tghe rest would be good. question, why 7 digit did? oh, to be able to see who sent (move) a message to you! and most of my customers call 593 porno music

ESI Link for S-class would be great.
Someone at ESI told me once they made a long term decision not to support analog DID as it is obsolete. With the price of T1's nowadays who needs DID? And no Caller ID!

i know, other dealers sell on it for small systems i am talking just like a 4 port on a s-class. the CLEC i work with sell a Flex-T1, internet,POT, Analog DID on one T1 and they give them 20 DID but it is too much on some for a e-class with 12 channel PRI.

7 Digit DID, Would give more flexability in a numbering plan, Had a customer who had the same last 4 digits on a DID with a different Prefix
so one of the two had to change their DID number.
Example: 593-1234 and 897-1234.

Also the 60 btn console is not large enough on systems with say 50 Exts. and 40 Guest mailboxes, when the operator needs one button transfer.

I can't tell you how many times I've had S-Class users ask about a missed call key. And then on the ones that have it, nobody cares. Strange.

I just took the X and E training in New Jersey last week and heard a rumour there about the X (and probably also the Y in this case) moving from a selectable numbering plan to a flexible numbering plan for extensions. ???

As a first timer, would you guys recommend I go to Dallas for the tour and whatever else as opposed to one of the (closer) single day events?

If you want to see what the plant looks like and meet the staff behind the phones then yes. They always treat us very well and make us feel at home whenever we are there.

You will get just as much info locally that you will in Plano.

As far as the numbering plan goes, I too hope to see it totally flexible. I highly doubt it though. We do need this flexibility becasue I cant stand matching up a DID to a non-matching extension. We cant always get a bank of DID's in ending in 100, 200, or 300's.

I was about to place a stocking order today and my rep let slip that it might be good idea to hold off til Monday (I did have to coax him a bit). Very anxious to hear what's new from the rollout. It sounds like there will be changes to the existing product lines.

I as at Dallas but no secrets here... they're in the other SPOILER thread!.... the rollout was bordering on great, lots of suprises, new products, upgrades to existing systems and great pricing. You'll be glad you went.
