Now I am stuck. I gone to G screen (Forwarding & VMS). I have assigned the mail box numbers (same as extension numbers), said to forward to VMS on Busy, and no answer for both icm and CO calls. I have set up the mail box on the mail system. I have to be missing something. I am working with only one phone right now. Mine. Don't want to hose up the others. I have the VMS key on my phone set to VMS 830?. When I press it I only get a busy signal. From my SYS CONFIG screen I see 6 extensions with the pad of VxC. I assume that these are the numbers assigned to the voice mail system. Not sure though. I figure there must be someplace that says when I hit VMS key to go to VMS. Can't seem to find that.
The bigger issue I need to get around is how to make the system automatically go to the VMS so people have the option to enter an extension or a name. Right now someone has to answer the phone and TR/CON it to the right person. Any Help is GREATLY appreciated. Steve.

The extension for the voicemail need to be in hunt group 36.
If all else fails, use a BFH.

shoover, JJ is right you need to set the voicemail extensions into a hunt group 36.That's on the A screen under the timers area.If you want lines to ring directly to the voicemail then on the B screen under lines set the lines to hunt group 36.

jj/pvj, I did as suggested. I have the hunt group set to 036 for the eight numbers that appear to be the voice mail numbers. When I press the VMS button on my phone I see the *intercom ring* message. If I let the phone ring long enough I can see it roll through the extensions in hunt group 036. but nothing ever picks up.
I have also set the B screen hunt group to 036. When we call in all of the phones still ring. and it never appears to "go anywhere". All of the phones are in Hunt Group 00.
I must be missing something somewhere.
On the infostar screen there is a PBX line setting that has an extension number in it. I tried to change that to be one of the voice mail numbers but it doesn't seem to make a difference. ?? Steve

Something that occured to me while I was scratching my head. There are multiple lines coming in. I set the HG to 36 on the B screen for Line 1. What I noticed in status screen is that Line 1 is not in service. Lines 10,11,12 are in service. I ran the line test to verify. Should I have set the Hunt Group on the B screen to 36 for all of the lines? I assuming so.

Yes you should set the lines you want answered to hunt 36 on the B screen. But if you press the voicemail key and don't get the voicemail to answer,I think you should get that working properly first. What is it a VXC card?

pvj: Yes it is a VXC card. The best I can tell it is a Infostar/VX2. Right now the Run Dialog screen shows:
[T ][AUTO1 0001] [T ][AUTO1 0001] [01][WAITING] [02][WAITING]
[T ] [AUTO1 0001] [T ] [AUTO1 0001] [03] [WAITING] [04] [WAITING]
I am unable to get to the sysadmin mailbox so I am not sure what the message is actually on the system.
I'm going to go back through the manual to see if I have missed something. Thanks for your help. Steve.

PVJ, I guess I needed to reboot/restart the system. Now when I press VMS I get the voice mail system. I can access the sys admin so I need to reset all of the pw's on the mail boxes. The system gives me the options to dail the extension, 0 for operator, # if subscriber. I am getting close . Steve

well, here is where I stand. I have the system rolling to VMS on an incoming call. I can't seem to get user's voice mail to pick up when a call is routed to them. The phone continues to ring. Also, some phones "bounce back" instead of ringing when routed to them. Steve.

shoover, You would forward phones to the voicemail box on the G screen on the telephone system programming. You need to fill in the mailbox number on that screen for the extensions then set call forward busy/no answer to vms. There is also a timer on the right side of the G screen for the extensions to vary thge time before it forwards to the mailbox. As for calls bouncing back ,what do you have on the sets? By that I mean direct line keys or trunk group keys?If you are using trunk group keys make sure you have at least 2 per phone so you can be on 1 call and have a second call come to the phone.

pvj, I'm coming down the home stretch I think.
On the G screen I found the time busy NoAns timer was set to 00s so I changed it to 10s. Now when someone calls in they are able to select the extension and the other person is able to answer before it is bounced back to the main greeting.
What I am still having problems with is the actuall voicemail for each extension.
The phone rings and rings and never picks up. The default Trnsfr VMS Delay, on G screen, is 16. The default Answer appears to be 05. Ideas? Steve.

follow up. I changed the busy to 5s and the no ans to 5s. I changed the timer multiplier to 2. That seems to help. At least it now rolls to Voice mail after 10 seconds but It seems to be going back to the system voice mail instead of the voicemail for the user.

On the "G" screen do you have the prefix as # for all the extensions. It should have extension, mailbox, and prefix (3001,3001,#).
Good Luck!!

In the Run Diagnostics on the infostar system I changed from auto1 to smdi1. Now the callers are transfered directly to the voice mail without the extension ringing. So, I guess there must be something here I am missing.

Eclipse 2.0 s/w on the ids The vx2 is on a 486 card? (hope I said that right.)
Not sure about the line in. My guess is no. The only way I was able to get to the system at all was through the 232 port on the test panel. I tried the transfer 99 and it didn't work.
I tried all of the following automated attendants: auto1,autos, autom, and auton. I can either ring the extension or I can go directly to voice mail. If I go directly to the extension (autos) the extension rings and when vms picks up I am back to the "main" system greeting. I think that there is something in the automated attendant that I am missing. When hit the vms key I get the same system greeting. I have the # key set in pf column for the extension so was expecting to be placed directly into the vms for that extension.

JJ, Feel free to correct me here but I was out of the Executone loop when the eclipse software came out.Does shoover need a serial connection to the vxc card or does it talk to the switch through the backplane on that software? shoover, don't give up we'll get you going!

PVJ, So far between you & JJ, and me pluggin at it, I have been able to get the system configured to a fairly acceptable level. The last piece is this dang rollover to the extensions voice mail.
I'm sure I'll get it with your assistance (you and jj). Steve.

Do I need to set up a CCR if all I want to do is have the system greeting played, the caller select the extension or dial by name, # to get to the subscriber box number.
If there is no answer, or if the line is busy I want to have the extensions voice mail pick up.
Just wondering.

You don't need to set up CCR for that.So there is a serial connection from the system to the VXC card? There is a 10 pin connector on the front of the VXC card for that.If it's using it then we need to set up the RS 232 port .

The VXC and EVX use the backplane to integrate with the phone system. You program voicemail just like you would a rs232 integration. It sounds like the transfer sequence is not setup on the "G: screen. Make sure you have *1, *2, *3 setup for the different transfer sequences at bottom right of "G" screen.
Good Luck!!

JJ, On the early VXC card installs they used the RS232 port to integrate, that's why I'm asking about the Eclipse software as I have never really worked on it.Do you really need the *1,*2,*3 sequences set up for it to work properly?I thought it would go the the mailbox main greeting if the other greetings weren't recorded.

I tried the *1,*2,*3 but didn't seem to make a difference. Should there be a value in the Transfer field under VMS on the G screen?

shoover, On the G screen on the phone system programming on the right hand side there is a parameter called Auto Att it should be set to N.This allows the mailbox Box# pf to be sent then the mailbox number.Do me a favour if you call the voicemail system at the main greeting and press #3001 does it prompt you for the password?

Auto Att is set to N. 3001 has no mail box associated with it. If I dial #3012 (my mail box) it does ask me for a code. If I dial a * it asks me for the mailbox I want to call.

OK that sounds good when you dial #3012 and it asks you for the passcode.
So back to the G screen, the lines should look like this right?
[T] VMS ICM CALLS
Ext | Box# pf |Busy |No Ans|All|
3012|3012 # |Y VMS |Y VMS |N
The lines under CO should also be set the same as under ICM Calls. Is that what you have?

All, The voice mail is working now. I found out that one of our other office also had an executone system. I was able to contact the company that provides the support. (didn't know we even had contract support.) The tech walked me through everything and also dialed in. By staying on the same screen as he was I could see the changes being made. Turns out is was more than one thing causing the problem. On the G screen I didn't the values for disconnect, prefix, or transfer populated. There were also a series of other settings on various screens.
It took about 2 hours to get it squared away. Some of that included trouble shooting the Operators Terminal, which is dead, explaining to me the changes and why they needed to be made, and explaining how to test the drop pulse. I don't think the telco is send it. Thanks to all of your support. I would have been able to get it to the operational state without your assistance. I've learned quite a bit. Thanks again. Steve.
