Not sure if this is the most appropriate location to ask - I'm trying to find the user manual for a Ziad Linemaster. The Ziad site seems to be gone now and my googling didn't turn anything up.
If I can't find one, can anyone give me an overview of what the symbols mean?

Sounds vaguely familiar but I don't know what it is. Give us a clue.

I have one of their butt sets somewhere down in the dreaded basement. I believe that the Linemaster was similar to the buttset. If so, the symbols might be the same.
If you can't find a real manual, let me know and I'll see if I can dig it up.

Hal -
As I thought, it's a subset of the PHD buttset. The unit is a combination: -buttset - speakerphone - VOM - Digitgrabber -db Meter
and probably 6 or seven other different things.
It seemed like a good idea at the time I bought it, but I don't think I used it all that often. In the beginning I was afraid I'd drop it/break it/lose it (It cost a pile of change!) and later shlepping all those different cords around seemed somewhat excessive.
I probably used it all of 3 or 4 times.
Again, djweis, if you can't get a manual, PM me and I'll xerox the pertinent parts of the book for you. The symbols should be the same.

Dean Yes, that's the one! It seems to work pretty well aside from the hieroglyphics on the display :-) I don't need you to photocopy it, if you can describe the picture and what it means that would be fine. I can type it up and put it in the box then. Thanks for the help

In the ZIAD PHD Telecommunicator, I find five oddball symbols:
***** ** ** *** ***** *****
This is supposed to indicate a Phone ON HOOK (The top two rows are the handset, the bottom two rows are the base and the middle row is the switch hook. I know. Use your imagination)
***** * *
* * *** ***** *****
That is a phone OFF HOOK (handset, switch hook and base again).
*** * * ***
** ** * * *
This last character is for ZERO VOLTS (The top half of the figure is a 0, the bottom is the letter V. It indicates a dead line, the test leads not connected to anything etc.
*** * * * * * * ** **
This is a LONG PULSE INTERVAL. Could be caused by a hook flash or an on-hook in the middle of a dial string.
* * * * * * * * * This is supposed to look like an infinity sign and is an IN BAND TONE INDICATOR. Caused by non-dtmf tones (300-3000 hz) on the line for at least 500ms at a level of at least -24db.
Hope this helps.

Hmm.
Those did not come out the way I typed them in. Apparently the system Left Justified everything and stripped away the spaces. I'll try to scan the pages and email them to you.
