OK, so I installed my first modem module in a dx80 in the shop today, just to mess around with it and see if I want to start using them. Shouldn't I be able to dial the default ext. number for the modem and hear the handshake attempt? Like calling a fax number? System is new and in default. I can't test connecting because I have some modem issues to solve. I hoped to hear the right noise when I dialed the modem ext. but insead I get a "not in service". Nothing in the manual indicates that any programming is required to activate the modem. If one of you guys has a system out there with a MDM in it, could you call it and see what you hear? or maybe you know what I'm missing. mark

When you transferring yourself to 199 you should hear the modem answer and get [Modem connect] [Connect succeed] then press F5

no when I call 199 directly, or try to transfer to it, I get "not in service". I checked and 199 is the correct ext. The board is properly seated. What else is there? mark

Just for giggles due a power-up initialization and see if it comes up working.

I have another ksu here, I could pop it in that. If I knew for sure that I should be able to pick up and dial 199 and here a modem noise, I could point to the modem board. But since I've not tried this before I don't know if it should sound like that or not. I gotta think I should hear it. mark

That's what I figured. Bad right out of the box new. Guess I get to spend a few hours waiting for Comdial Tech (lack of) support people to finish their coffee and crispy creams so I can get a MRA number. This is why I check this stuff at the shop and not on site. mark
