Hello, I've used this system in my office for many years. In my area there is not a single NEC dealer that will still work on Pro systems. I recently had an issue with my (Lingo) voicemail , which seems to be ok now. The problem is that on my programming station, I can't get rid of the "Data Entry" display, and line #1 is lit constantly (and not useable). I'd be glad to pay anyone with knowledge of this setup to help me out over the phone with this, if answsering on this site is not practical. Thanks, Bob

Line 1 is siezed somewhere. Check all phones to see if one has green lit. If they are all red, you may need to unplug and reconnect system power. The "data entry" will not go away until system is idle, which won't happen until line 1 is released.

Power off, power on can solve your problem otherwise look for bad port #1 on Trunk card.

There is no trunk card on Pro I, there are 4 CO ports directly on motherboard.

Ok. I did the power down/up and it took care of the "data entry" issue. I'm having a problem with the 1st port on the Lingo. It picks up right away, but gives an immediate busy signal. The 2nd port of the lingo seems to work fine. I have (2) lingo units and tried them both. The 1st port #23 does the same thing on both. Also when the 2nd port #24 picks up, it does not release for several minutes after hangup. For some reason, the original NEC installer set the voicemail station #'s to #51 & #52 instead of 23 & 24. However, we always dialed #23 or #24 to access vmail. I'd be glad to pay for telephone tech support if anyone has experince with the Pro Level 1 / Lingo combination.

Lingo problem still. Since I can't find a Lingo tech, I've been working on this thing for 2 days myself. I've got most of the settings back I think, but still a problem. When I dial into the lingo port, it answers but does not play the greeting. It holds for about 5 seconds and than I hear, "I'm sorry, I did not hear your selection, please enter now". Same thing when I dial the Voicemail port direct. If anyone can provide tech support with the Lingo system on a Pro Level 1, please message me.

The NEC "greeting" is still in the system because after I enter something it will play. My mailbox greeting is there because I can test it and it is fine. But neither message will play automatically upon transfer, or if you dial voicemail port. Someone told me the voicemail ports need to be assigned #51 & 52. Does this sound correct? I've got the mailbox range from 10-59.

Greeting will play only if you dial from extension that doesn't have a MB otherwise it supposed to ask your Password. What happened if you dial from outside into system?

Same thing. It pauses, and than, "I'm sorry, I did not hear your selection, please enter your selection now". If I hit the # key the greeting starts as normal. This is true on all calls to the port.

On the PRO I the port is not the same as the extension. The first station port is 01 and typically the extension assignment is 10. So port 01 = station 10, port 02 = station 11, etc. In your case apparentaly ports 23 and 24 were assigned to voice mail. The PRO I wants the voice mail pilot to be assigned as station 50 in a hunt group. The logical procedure for a 2-port voice mail is to assign Port 23 to = station 50 and port 24 to = station 51. To call voice mail dial the extension assignment not the port number.

I have my notes from the original NEC installer (out of business now), and he had Port 14=station 51, and Port 15=Station 52. I just switched it back to that, but no better luck. Everything seems to be ok, except it will not recognize the call after it picks up. Like I said earlier, if I hit the # key, the greeting starts fine.

You said you assigned mailboxes 10-59? I would remove mailboxes 50-59. You probably do not want mailbox assignments that match the voice mail extension numbers.

Thanks jvan.I changed assigned mailboxes to 10-49. VM ports are 14=ext. 51 15= ext. 52 Dial, Ringback, & Busy tones were all learned successfully. I'm certain that the problem is with the NEC Pro settings because I have tried (2) different Lingo units, and they both do the exact same thing.

I'm thinking my problem may be in the Voice Mail Access Code Assignments. System 1 Data 67 Access codes 01 - 11 I'm using 81 thru 88 for 01-08 09 I left blank 10 = 641 11 = 642
It seems like the system is looking for a # on one of these codes.

Check MB 4-01 voice mail ports must be assigned as SLT 'yes'. MB 4-07 assign tel ports used as voicemail 'yes'. MB 1-64 SLT transfer selection must be set to 'hangup'.

Bob, check these programs in your Level 1 system.
1-34= Hold 1-35= 50 1-64= Hangup 1-67 Access Codes 03-07= * (Leave all others at default) 1-68= 1.0 1-69= 100/70 4-01= ports 15 & 16= SLT (YES) 4-06= ports 15 & 16= 51 & 52 4-07= ports 15 & 16= YES 4-15 & 16 are Day & Night ring
Now I hope you did'nt re-initialize the Lingo, that would have killed the Lingo to Level 1 integration. I won't be able to help you if that is the case.

Those setting were all correct as I had them. On Voice Mail / SLT Selection 4-07 I tried the VM ports as "NO" and the VM picked up immediately, and played the greeting immediately, as it should. But it will not recognize any key tones.

The phone system programming areas that address DTMF are... MB 1-68 voice mail DTMF delay timer set to 1.0sec MB 1-69 set the voice mail DTMF duration timer to 100/70msec
On the PRO I the the PBR-C[4]-11KTU card supports DTMF signaling to the voice mail. It is possible that card is bad.

I can't thank you all enough. I'm making a ton of progress. I've got my system doing "something" like it should. My issue now is the Lingo is picking up ALL incoming calls, even though I have set it to Application # 3 VM only, no automated attendant.
p.s. I was also able to obtain a complete set of Lingo manuals via email from Active Voice. If anyone could use these, I'd be glad to forward.

Thanks jvan. They were on yes, I changed to "no", but did not help. I'm wondering if it's one of the setting in 1-67 that IPKII provided. He was dead on. Those setting brought everything to life. But I had not mentioned earlier that I was using the VM only application, and not the Auto Attendant.

I got it. A Dumb error. It was 4-15 CO/PBS ring assignment. Those trunks were assigned to ring at the VM ports along with the other extensions. I changed the 2 VM ports to be blank, and it seems to be fine.

Last issue (I think). I cannot get the VM waiting lights to go on or off on the Pro Level 1 sets. I have made the following setting: 1-67 #10 = default 641 #11 = default 64*
In the Lingo, I have options # 330 & 331 to match above.
Thanks very much

I'd tried everything and cannot get these MW lamps working. I have a question. On 1-67 the default access codes for MWI set is 641 The default for MWI()cancel) is 64*
Do these codes need the ext code or a pause after the default? i.e. 641X 64*X or 641pause X 64* pause X

Try this command manually and you will see what is supposed to be. I am pretty sure the ext. # has to follow otherwise how your Notification port will know what ext. is required MW light.

How do I try the command manually. When I plug a SLT directly into the VM port, I don't get any sound or dialing capability. Evrything else is working fine, except these MW lamps.
I did notice one thing strange. In the manual on 1-67 VM Access Code Assignment, my phone shows differnt options for 10 & 11 than the ones shown in the manual. 1-67
# 10 manual= Message Wait Indication(set) # 10 on phone= CBR setting: 641
#11 manual= Message Wait Indication(cancel) #11 on phone= NM setting: 64*

Make sure those codes did not get changed in the Lingo. They should be 641 & 64*.

Those Lingos are good Little Voice Mail Systems. After You Get them Going, Just Make sure The Battery's Are Changed out at Least once a Year. VM goes a little crazy when They are Low.
