We use the GN headsets all the time, they plug into the handset cord jack on the bottom of the phone and the cord plugs into the amplifier or cordless base.

You have to have a handset button or use the feature cord, and have the speakerphone disabled (flash 50, page B, button 4). Just checked programming on the phone down the hall and it works just using the on/off button.

If you are using a wireless headset you have to have to hit two buttons, the on button on the phone and the button on the headset or forget using the headset flex button on the phone and get a lifter!

It really depends on the amp or cordless receiver. The GN 01-0247 is just a corded headset that plugs into a standard amp, so they will most likely be at the phone. If it is a cordless unit that has a button to answer the call, then yes, a lifter would be appropriate in that situation.

We have a college that uses the cordless GN headset, but the switchboard operator is at the phone so they only use the on-off button. This is a pretty common situation for us since we have a couple call centers and answering services, and 99% of the headsets we install never use a lifter. That is usually for the guys in their offices that want to look cool.....
