is there a way to add remote presence to an analog system? my company has a nortel system (i'm not sure of the model) and wants to be able to know if a remote worker is on the phone and the ability to forward calls to her if she is not on the phone.
i don't think there is a way to do this without voip but i don't really know much about analog systems and how they can be extended with voip. i told them that we kind of get the remote user's presence thru instant messenger but they want it integrated into the existing phone system.
can anyone enlighten me on how this can be done?

You could get an OPX circuit depending on distance from the carrier and use an ATA
or Norter remote Gateway
or a digital extendar and you a digital phone. There is a remote and branch unit. Branch unit connects to the KSU, remote user connects to dial tome and calls the KSU.
Look for MCK extendar

I suggest you post in the "Request an Installer" forum.
