Thanks for the reply. The phone system is a Toshiba Strata CTX-100. The phones are Toshiba DKT3010-SD. Can I assume the receptionist phone would be set to admin mode?
Thanks again.

Can I assume the receptionist phone would be set to admin mode? Unfortunately no. This has to be enabled for an extension through programing. By default, all extensions are disabled. I rarely see this enabled by installers unless specifically requested.

You should try the receptionist phone, most likely any installer would allow that station to change names.

Thanks. I tried the receptionist phone but nothing happened. Is there a way that we can turn on administrative mode on one of our phones?

One cheap way to do it would be to have your installer modem or web into the system and turn on that feature, that should not be very expensive, you might get them to do it N/C, it is pretty lame to leave a system where the customer can't do so much as change a name on a phone.
I can understand not taking the time to install eManager and train someone to do complicated software, but to leave you unable to change names on phones is a bit too cheap in my world. I'm not positive but I think that is ON by default in 200.

I am 99.5% sure it is off by default for all extension, including ext 200. I think every installer has a system they use. For example I always turn off Activate Message waiting on all extentions. I give people about 20 speed dial bins and about the same caller ID numbers, if they have caller ID.
There are a few things I think I should add to my routine, such as give the reception ability to program system speed dials and the administrative abilities. I don't work off a script so I very often do not turn on these features, and I almost never see them turned on when we take over another account.
I think it should be on for ext 200 by default, but it is not. Toshiba did not even add this feature until about version 2.20.
It would be possible for a tech to turn on this feature with a 20 button phone using telephone programing.

Hello,
I have a DKT 3010-S Toshiba phone but no other parts that I am trying to set up. Can this be used as a stand alone telephone or do i need the Toshiba system?
Thanks very much for any advice!
