I have a customer who needs an 8X16 system and voip for two off site locations, one phone each location. Seems right for an SBX-IP except she wants the voice mail to answer for two companies. The 4-port doesn't sound like the right choice. Anyone tried the pathfinder on these SBX systems yet? If so, I am assuming it has to be analog. I don't see any DTMF modules as option. Any help would be appreciated.

What do you need that the SBX voice-mail won't do?

Thanks for the response, Larry. Excellent question. The customer plans on recording conversations and feels they will be using the voice mail quite a bit. I would like to give her an alternate option if it is available. Again, thanks for the reply.

I am not aware of it being supported....but maybe worth a try. If recording is what they are after there are some really robust options out there that may offer a better choice outside of the voice mail, of course another advantage of a separate recorder is that it would not take vmail resources.

I think their are cases when networking the SBX that you do need an external VM solution. Such as when networking two systems as the system itself doesn't support this config for a central VM for the InSkin VM. They make a reference to an "analog" VM solution but don't go any further in saying if there are any external digital VM solutions that will work.

But according to the FAQ a REMOTE IP Extension can use the One touch record feature on the InSkin.

I guess the problem will be if the inskin vm has enough space at 8 hours for them to record on.

If you find out if a Digital PF can be integrated please let us know. I will ask if I can remember this week

Thanks for all the replies. I will talk to tech support and see if they support it. Offering oneloolk/unified messaging and etc. would be a nice option. Too bad we can't get the in-skin hard drive voice mail for the SBX, but that doesn't look to promising. But like I said, I will check tech support.

Thre is a new external digital voice mail in the works. It will be very much like the inskin PF and will use a ribbon cable to plug into the current vm slot in the SBX control unit.

I talked to Kathy in sales this am. She says the analog or the digital pathfinder will work just fine with no restrictions, so I will present this to my customer as an option. Thanks for the support.

The digital pathfinder will work? That is news to me.

Uh oh, now I'm afraid. I just went with the sales dept. answer because I was in a hurry and couldn't wait for tech support. What's that old saying???? Maybe I will try V-connect tonight.
