I have a new 7100 install and the client wants to make use of his existing SIP trunk provider, details follow
Membership No: xxxxxx
Password: yyyyy
Proxy: proxy.freecall.net.au
Supported Codec: G729, GSM (others by request)
Silence Suppression (VAD): Disabled
DTMF Mode: Outband (RFC2833)
Samsung Australia say they don't support SIP trunks other than Samsung to Samsung, but another installer told me it can be done and works well. Has anyone done this and could you give me any help. Related MMC's? and what other data do I need from the client?

Hi,

Your information is incorrect.

SIP Trunks is available on the OS7100 and is supported by the Samsung Distributor in Australia.

Suggest you ring Melbourne and ask for the information again.

When I did the 7100 update course in Brisbane at the start of August I specifically asked the trainer who replied that Samsung do not support SIP trunks to Internet based providers because "Those buggers don't conform to the standard" by which I interpreted Samsung have settled on their own standard and don't want to have to explain how to do it based on somone elses spec. Thanks for the reply, I will give LSP a ring and try again, I suspect however that I will need to revert to this forum.

Not sure who you talked to, it is true that all SIP service providers are not the same, and many do have different flavours of SIP.

However, I have connected 7000 series boxes to several different Australian SIP providers using the document issued by the guys in Melbourne.

I won't publish the details here, but all the settings are in MMC xxx and xxx, and they are described in the 7000 series programming manual, which is on the CD that was supplied with the OS7100

Thanks for the advice, I spoke to one of the guys in Melbourne yesterday and he told me where the relevant documents were on the dealer website. (I constantly get lost on that website even when just finding patches for OSM) I will download them shortly and will also review the programming manual. Hopefully I'll be able to have this thing put to bed and ready for install by next week.

Simple to do when you know how. Got it up and running, first choice in route 0 as per cust request. But, when ADSL goes down trunk does not block and keeps being given to people dialling out, after timeout (about 10sec) cust gets out of service on display but if you hang up and try again 7100 presents SIP trunk again straight away. Any suggestions?

Ballparking a bit here, but sounds like when your ADSL goes down, you still have local connectivity, so your system still has MGI channels. In this scenario your system is going to try to use that available channel then it fails and you have a failed call. I dont think LCR route advance will work in that scenario. I would work on a more reliable internet connection or have your poor connectivity as a secondary.

In setting up SIP trunks on OS7100 V4.08 aus we have found that after a non specific time or event that the 7100 stops sending its SIP registration request to the provider and therefore no response is received. The results here is that once this occurs callers to the SIP numbers receive a disconnected message from the exchange while outgoing calls are successful. We've traced the events using wireshark but once the registration messages cease the calls are not even signalled to the MCP/MGI. Any suggestions?

SamSung, In reply to the local connectivity issue, when the ADSL first failed, Igot the receptionist to unplug the patch lead from the 7100. ie no local connectivity. This was done to try and block the sip trunk until I could get onsite. However the 7100 still presented the sip trunk first.
