Ipoffice.500

I am trying run a Fax through their PRI. I want to port the number to a channel, then and have outbound traffic CID the fax number rather than the pilot number

How do you set the CLI for an extension to another number?
I saw Ns & the number in short codes is how, but this didn't work for me..

ALSO......
Can I set the CLI on the extension to show the pilot number AND the extension number?
The point of this drill is that the location has outbuildings that 911 wants to be able to identify.

Create an ARS with N; / Dial 3K1 / NS7075551212 / (Line Group of PRI Outgoing)
On the Fax machine User, if you want to NOT have to dial 9 for outbound, add User Short Code N / Dial / N / (ARS that you created above)
If you want to dial 9 on the fax, so to the users it operates like the other phones in the office, User Short Code 9N / Dial / N / (ARS that you created above)

Hi Tommy,

I am obviously confused about "N";"

I attached screenshots of the 2 things you said to do. I tried using N in the extension short code but all I got was an internal tone that couldn't be dialed from. I made up 812 as the help file wasn't.

Can you please show me where I went off the rails?

Thank you,

Ralphj

Sure - see the attached.

In your User Short Code, It is saying that if the extension dials 812 (the Code), that it will result in the system dialing 51 (the Telephone Number) on Line Group 0.
You want to change that to N as the Code (anything that the extension dials) and N as the Telephone Number (just send the same digits) with the Line Group set to 51 (the ARS ID)

Once the call arrives at the ARS table, the only entry you really need is N; (N followed by a semicolon) which means the ARS table will wait until the Digit Timer expires to make sure it is the complete number before sending out over the trunk.

Keep the 911 / Dial Emergency code in case someone dials 911 from the Fax's handset, but remove the 11 entry, so they don't accidentally make a 911 call by stuttering on the 1 before the area code.

HI Tommy,

Thanks to your EXCELLENT help it is now dialing out without the 9.level request.

Unfortunately I redid this MANY times before it got it..

Wanna hear a story?

Naturally I wasn't at the Fax machine and was using one of my TS21's in the equipment room. Probably the same Butt set as most of us old phoney's like me use.

I kept having different results of failure, so I kept trying slight variations and returning to exactly what you sent.

About this point I figured out that I may have been testing it wrong.

The other systems I've worked on you could test for Inside or outside Dial-tone by going ROH and dialing 9 to see where you landed.
It finally occurred to me that it isn't the ROH state like a Panasonic or Partner, but the ARS of the IPOFFICE that was accepting ANY digit and would be passing a 9 that would still give me an outside trunk.
DAMNIT JANET! It did just what I told it to, expecting a different result. DUH!

After a while, it became more convenient to hardwire an old 2500 set to the 66 block and suddenly began having success!. [Linked Image from sirius-business.com\yahoo.gif]

Seriously Tommy, how often have you had a working Butt set spontaneously begin mutilating digits?
With the dial-pad on back, I couldn't hear the squeaky DTMF to know this though.

Naturally it HAD to be the 1 as all calls from this CO need to start with it to get out.

You may have seen here before that I frequently have unusually bad luck and probably should have been hired to a BETA TESTING team [Linked Image from sirius-business.com\betatesters.gif]

I am presently trying to write a book of short stories about how much fun I have adapting to life throwing me mostly curveballs and Lemons.

It's entitled:

"NO SHIT.......
THERE I WAS!"

Thank you so much for the help!

Glad you got it all working! That's a book I'd buy and read, I bet it would be a real hoot!
