Rhetorex boards are the VPU cards. These are the actual 'ports' on your voicemail. The AIC (Audio Interface card) is what transmits the audio from the phone system CPU to the Voicemail computer. Since you said it is Version 6.0, it would be an NT voicemail, not an Axxessory Talk, because those ran OS/2. Is this a rackmount PC or a tower? The default path should be C:\AVDAP

Making a "back up" of that system is going to be risky. I seldom see them work correctly. There are potential conflicts with motherboards and bios issues just to name a few of the challenges. You would most likely be better off buying a used second system and keeping it in reserve if you want a "full system." Personally, once I get a system just like I want it after set up, I ghost the hard drive and put it in the vault. Then I keep regular back ups. If the drive fails, I place the ghosted drive in the box, restore my latest back up and we're in good shape.

Thank you Jeff and MacGyver for responding.
Jeff- My system is a NT voicemail. My voicemail computer is an ATX tower with one ISA card install. I believe this card is the AIC according to your description. There's not a second ISA card or VPU insight How does it work without a VPU card?
MacGyver - Ghosting a drive is an option, but there's limitation on restoring in any event when the PC crash. For example if the hard drive crash. Yes, I can restore, but if the motherboard is fried then the PC cannot be restore until I can replace a motherboard that is compatible.
Having a back up PC makes the most sense. Do you guys know if Inter-tel have AIC or VPU card that support Windows XP or PCI?

The VPC is a blank faceplate, so all you would see is a piece of metal from the outside. Did you open the tower and check? It would look like a standard ISA card, and have a ribbon cable going to the AIC. Starting with Version 8.0, the Voicemails were available with Windows 2000.

Also if you can get a model number (there should be a white sticker on the back) and let us know.

There is a folder named avdap it is on the c or d drive I don't remember for sure. Just back up that folder every so often. The folder has all VM related information. If VM crashed just call your vendor to have them rebuild it and give them the back up or your avdap folder for them to restore all VM information.
