Here we go again with Tadiran and support. Rather than shipping me an entire cabinet they want me to replace the backplane on the system. Anyone do this sucessfully because last time I tried this it was a hell of alot more screws than 4 and I couldn't get the AUX cennector off.

I actually did this twice and it worked after I was done. It took me a while to do them but, I would rather get the whole cabinet than replace the backplane ever again.

Ya, I am trying to tell these guys that I would LIKE to get the system back up ASAP because there are like 300 people on it. I just don't understand the logic.

I remember I had to actually get an 800 expansion cabinet from another dealer since Tadiran didn't have any in stock. How can a manufacturer not have something in stock? Seems things haven't gotten any better since Bregman was ousted. Maybe Bregman just started a chain reaction in bad service and logistics. I really hope Tadiran moves out of NY. It isn't helping being there honestly. Considering all the new technology out in the world today, the headquarters could be anywhere. I say have them move here to Houston.

Funny, I know Tadiran read my thread on their crappy support and weren't happy about it.
Looks like they haven't changed a bit tho.
Guess they are more upset at the fact that someone actually posted about their crappy support on the web instead of actually finding out they really have crappy support.
Unfortunately, it seems that they care more about their perception then their reality.
P.S. NONE of my issues have been addressed either!

No, I am an end User and I sit next to my certified vendor/tech when he is on the phone with them toruble shooting.
I also know the problems that I have had for a LONG time (read day 1) that they have refused to address or just haven't bothered fixing.
Word got back to me thru the grapevine that they were aware of the thread and they read it.
It appears they seemed upset about it, but not that their support was actually bad, just that people were talking about how bad their support is.
See the difference?
Let's see, I have a fax board which has NEVER worked correctly (NEVER).
I have had 2 catasprohic voicemail failures in 2 years.
I have (well, my tech and Tadiran themselves)not been able to get silent record to work with my boss group phones. Tadiran currently has no answer to this problem.
I don't even want to get into the other crap.

What voicemail are you using?
BTW They sent me a new IPX 500 motherboard despite me asking for a complete cabinet. So now I have to rip apart a working (not well) IPX 500 with 300+ users on it for a prolonged period and pray that I don't screw something up trying to put it all back together.

You know what really sux is that no one in this day and age should be doing component level work in the field. Where would you even think that was normal today? I feel like I just went back in time to the 1970's and 80's.

I use the UCMC. How is this Gem for you (Did I mention how bad I think tadiran sucks)?
I have had problems with the wireless phone setup I have had, roughly since day 1. Nothing major, but quite annoying.
Every week or 2 I have to rebot the card as the wifi phones get very static(y) and dead spots appear.
Tadirans brilliant idea now is to upgrade the card to newer firmnware. But wait, they tell my tech they can not guarantee the phones I have will work with the new version.
SO, they want him to spend all his time here (that he does not get to recoup from them) to upgrade the card, then take a pretty good shot of killing ALL of my wireless phones.
Quite frankly, I am not sure how these people are still in business.

We installed 2 and stopped. We now will only do the WiCMC. Wireless is a Kirk telecom system. I haven't had any issues on the wireless.
I dunno, I have a tom of Tadirans in the field and they are tanks.

I seem to recall asking about WiCMC vs uCMC. Is this an upgrade to better quality, or profit margin

ps the 500 is a tank, got quite a few in the field that keep on cranking away, I'm installing one in Las Vegas this week, and would sure like a return visit. But don't expect it.

I prefer the WiCMC for stability. The boards are identical. The way the WiCMC works is better IMHO. The way the USB dongle vs that stupid eprom and hard drive key thing on the UCMC is terrible for in field replacements.

Wicmc will be a better quality system in my opinion. It is a version of the Repartee from Active Voice which has been in the voice processing business for a very long time.

We don's offerthe ucmc anymore reataylor. It actually makes our systems price higher but with WAY fewer headaches and lost sleep.
