Try this..... Remove all connections except pins 2,3 & 7 on a DB 25 to 25 connector. If your printer is located in a diffrent room, plug in A.C. adapter that removes the ground. Lower the baud rate to 300 or 1200. Print your reports before the midnight reset.

Thanks for the input ... BUT ... we are using a PC not a printer, so I assume you are suggesting changing the baud to avoid a buffer issue?
The only pins on the rs-232 connected are transmit (from the IDS) and ground. We have disconnected RCV at the IDS end.
VERY STRANGE !!!

Are the reports sent before or after the midnite reset? (What happens if the midnite reset is turn off?) How many reports are sent at the same time? What is the lenght of the "cable"? Is the PC turn off at any time?

Just for the hell of it...... Connect a A.C. adaptor to the PC power cord. This is a 2 prong plug with a ground band on the outside. This will remove the possibility of a faulty ground between the phone system and the PC.
