I have been asked by Sparky to terminate some cable he will install. When he said it was 32 pair I said huh, your kiddin. He said nope, then he said he would install the blocks and the cable. All I gotta do is terminate.
Anybody ever done 32 pair?
Is the 26th pair a white/blue from a second binder or is it something that will surprise me.
I told him no prob, I got these buddies on a website that have seen it all.
My reputation is now in your hands.........

I've never heard of it, but I wonder if it's not 8 4prs in one sheath?

I did some checking on google, and all I came up with was audio cable. 24AWG, 32pair, twisted pair, stranded, with individual foil shield. I hope that's not what this is.

My god I hope not either. If it is why is there references being made to "blocks".
Lets hope it is 8/4prs. I have seen 2/4prs in one sheath before.

That type of cable gets used alot in the shipyard. 24 GA stranded can only be reliably terminated with crimped on pins or by soldering-it's such small stuff.
You have my sympathies

ABAM cable is 32 pair shielded cable, typically 22 gauge solid, 100 ohm. ABAM is the cable type; I don't remember what ABAM stands for but sometimes it’s written as ABMM. It's used In C.O.'s to terminate T1 patch panels to switch frames and DCS (digital Cross connect Switches). Not to state the obvious, but 32 is a multiple of 2,4 and 8 or visa-versa. T1 cards in these machines are typically in this number configuration. 32 port t1 patch panels are pretty common in CO's.
The first 25 pair is in the normal and expected blue binder. The other 7 pairs are bl/w through r/or is in an orange binder. No rocket science needed.

Now we are getting somewhere I hope. If it iss ABAM cable and I am required to connect it block to block do you suppose the correct way would be 16 on one side of block and sixteen on the other. Or maybe 25 and 7.

Per the color code supplied by SST I'd go 25/7

I'll second the 25/7. I've seen ABAM used on 66 blocks and the 7 pairs in the orange binder was just burried behind the block in the stand-off.

Why don't you tell this moron like it is. There isn't any such thing as 32 pair telephone cable. If whatever he has is being installed for that purpose you won't have any part of it. Get the right cable or get somebody else.
I suspect that because of the high copper prices he found something on ebay.
