Boy, do I have to agree with what's being said here. I have (had) a client with an Avaya switch, which I did some peripheral work for (paging, music, time clocks, etc) and their IT guys decided that it would be better to have a VoIP system. Now several months old, the phones when they call me sound crappy alot of the time.
Called me because they had paging level problems. The VoIP paging adapters weren't outputting enough signal. Couldn't use the old switching to eliminate the open circuit noise when it wasn't being used, etc. They had already tried 3 different paging adapters. "They were all junk, so I was told"
I finally made some mods and added some more peripheral equipment and got it to work, at least acceptable, and used the first page adapter that they purchased.
But their IT department seems to know it all. Same with the place my wife works, just got VoIP, I tried to call there got the AA, press 1 for the building I wanted, got new menu to dial 1, 2, 3, etc, the operator for that group is 8. Dialed 8, got Hi, you have reached the (manufacturer) Mail System, ?????? is not available right now, Then her personal greeting, that said I am on vacation, and will not be returning until Jan 2. Leave me a message. IT can't figure what to do, so my wife tells me. IT has told them they need an upgrade to the S/W to make this work correctly.
INTERESTING?!? Need to go back to their old system, it worked.
Well, now that I am off my soapbox, Everyone have a Great Christmas!
