Our new SimpliPhone arrived yesterday and I have a problem. The little wire with the blue flag tapped to it is supposed to connect to what is called the interface. The only possible thing in our office that could be is that thing with the orange plastic door on it. It does have our phone number written inside the door. But it doesn't have a place to plug the little plastic plug thingy into.
I tried calling the tech support number they gave us but since it was a "900" number and I spent way too much time on hold, when I finally talked to someone she said I needed a punch tool. What the heck is that. I was told by the big boss to get the IT department involved but damn, that is the reason I ended up trying to install this thing. IT has already been screwin around for six months with some VOIP stuff.
I would call a real phone technician but since we haven't had decent working phones for 2 months now we are broke. I heard you guys are free and the very best.
Please respond here cause calling our office would just be a waste of time.
Desperate, but I saved about a grand, shame it is only on paper.

   OMG! That's like a tape recording of a call I took yesterday!
Except the part I didn't get was the $4K price tag for a 4x8 system (look it up on Sam's Club, Costco or HelloDirect... they're all selling it for about the same). I'd have been happy to sell and install a nice STSe for that.

Oh, that's an easy fix....
Simply go to your nearest Rite-Aid drug store and buy yourself a few $10.00 "trim-style" phones. You'll find them hanging on a hook in blister-packs near the camera section. Then, contact your local electrical contrator or maintenance man to connect them to your lines. He should have a screwdriver of the appropriate size to mash the wires into the "thingies" under the orange cover until you can get your system working.
Otherwise, if you can't wait, contact your local dial tone provider and ask them to forward your main number to your cell or home phone. That should work until Sam gets it fixed for you.

Sorry you must be using the BIX terminals they are not supported by your new system. You will have to spend much more and get something like a casco so that you can save even more to have phones that dont work.

I saw this thread. My SimpliPhone PBX system needed to be adjusted and Jules, the maintenance guy for the Mall, used a screwdriver to hit the orange thing in the back room and it now doesn't work. So I called Costco, where I bought it, and they said I needed to come here for help.
Do you guys do service calls over the Internet, like the Alpha Geeks? Just turned on my Web camera and speakers so you can see and can tell me what to do about this Mercury Mountaineer parked on the red box in the black rack-thingie. Is it the problem?
TIA, I never had this problem with my TalkSwitch telephones.

LOL
I shouldn't be laughing. That very thing is happening all over E-Bay with asterisk systems by a bunch of hacks.

C'mon John, this sucker is 10+ months idle. It's funny, but not THAT funny. John C.

The reason for the bump up was because of the following email I received yesterday:
Hi I read a message board with some questions on Simpliphones system,,, it said that you have a phone system
My problem is that I bought a Simpliphone system and can not use the software with out the password, I was wondering if you have a copy of the software and would be gracious enough to send me a copy
I would be willing to pay for it .

SimpliPhone (or a liquidator) is selling there left over phones on eBay:. Here is the auction number: 320328692472. Im guessing the seller has something to do with SimpliPhone as they are also based in Utah, they are selling P4 motherboards used in the system, and their other auctions are VOIP gateways.
SimpliPhone also runs not just Windows, but Windows XP. What made them think a Desktop OS with questionable reliability is telecom grade OS is beyond me. Then again, they are also using a desktop motherboard and a desktop hard drive. If they wanted the Windows GUI or commodity programmers, I would have run Windows CE which is actually a RTOS and run it on a flash drive. I would have also gone VOIP, eliminating the very expensive PCI FXS analog boards, additional wiring and potential failure point (line surge, etc.).
What really amazes me is how big and hollow the server is. The case could have easily been a 2 post compatible 1U or 3U.
Though I question their marketing and sales channel. SimpliPhone had a decent concept, just poor execution.
