I have been approached by a company to do some telco related work in washington state but I currently reside up in Vancouver BC Canada. Being a US Citizen I can pretty much work on both sides of the border but there is the question of insurance.
I am looking for a referal to obtain workers comp insurance and or liability insurace for my self.
The only company I have looked at so far is farmers insurace. There is also another problem and that is I do not have a physical preseces in washington state. My guess is thay will want to see a US address to be able to cover me in the event I do get involved in some kind of on the site accident. Also, what is the minimum insurance I should use to cover my self?
Thanks
Loren

In can't speak to the insurance company question, but a PO Box right across the border might be good enough.

I don't know about WA but in NY not only are you not required to get comp if you are a sole prop and have no employees but you would have a hard time getting it if you wanted to. I have lost jobs because they wanted me to have it.
The place to ask your questions would be a local insurance agent who handles business insurance.

In Idaho a sole propietor is not required to carry workmans comp as long as they have no employees.
