Hello. First time poster. . .

I've been working with Telrad for several years now and it seems every time I change to a different laptop, I run into issues with my PCP software. Now I've got a particularly strange discovery. . .

Just got an IBM Thinkpad (A31), installed Windows '98 SE, and copied over all of my SBM, SB, and DB files. (I'm currently having driver issues that I'm still fixing) But, I noticed that in some of my Telrad folders, the Dkeybx file is a .BAT and in some folders it is a .EXE file. ?? The problem I'm having is, while just trying to test the off-line programming, when I'm running a .BAT file I get the message at the main menu "no communication hardware found". The Offline option is there and works, but the Direct Connect and modem options are not listed. But, when I run the .EXE file everything works fine. Any insight would be helpful.

By the way, does anyone have the latest SB6 software? The latest I have is 6.07

Thanks in advance,
Suzanna

You need to reload the software not copy it. All of the Telrad softwares have self expanding exe files that load the software. You may want to tey the reload before re buy ing the software.

Thanks for the quick response!

I followed your instructions & reloaded the software from the disk(s). I have both SB6.03 and SB6.07 install disks dated 8/6/98 & 3/3/2000, respectively. They both inflated a DKEYBX.BAT file. When I run the .bat program, the first screen shows:
______________________________________________
Off-Line Programmer ----------------------(1)
(No communication hardware installed)
Press ENTER to continue, press ESC to exit
______________________________________________

I can press Enter & am able to view the Default file (off-line). I fixed all of my driver issues, so I don't understand why it's not seeing my COM1 or modem ports? All of my SB programs worked fine on my previous (older) IBM laptop. ??

Just for comparison, I then reloaded my SB7.21 software & it inflated both a DKEYBX.EXE & DKEYBX.INI file. When I run the .exe program, I get the correct screen with all 4 options listed, "Off-line, Connect to system directly, Connect via modem. . ."

I am so puzzled!

If your using windows you should be using SB6.10 or SB5.10 or SB3.10. There were for use on Windows. Your 7 should be 7.33b (7.01-7.34 softwares) and EManager for above 7.34. There are also SBM and DB X.10 programs.

Thanks ayb, I gave it a try but still getting the same results.

Strange thing is, all of my files worked fine on my old laptop which was also running Windows '98.

??

All of the Telrad systems I work with are 5+ years old. I've been programming with 6.03, 7.01, 7.02F. I did get a copy of 3.10 from Telrad earlier this year, so I'm ok there. But, unfortunately, I no longer have that connection with Telrad. Does anyone have a copy of SB6.10 and 7.33b they'd be willing to share? Or do I have to buy the whole kit?

Trying to start up my own little business. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Suzanna

I do have another question, if you'd be so kind to answer. . .

I've got a 128 Telrad customer that currently has a problem that whenever I upload programming changes, all phones loose their speed dial programming. This wouldn't be a major issue, except some people have their phones forwarded outside and they loose it whenever I make changes. The system is running 7.01 software. Would it be ok if I defaulted the system & reprogrammed it using my 7.33b PCP software? Or would that cause a conflict? Thanks in advance. . .

You need to get software chips for that memory cartridge. 7.42 was the last ver another plus to doing the upgrade is you can use emanager to program with.
