Why waste time on a 20+ year old system if you can't afford a new system then buy a replacement Panasonic KSU there are many that will work with the same phones.

Actually it's a tech SUPPORT forum. I guess the difference is philosophy. You can knock your socks off repairing a 20 year old box and you still have a 20 year old box, or you can get an upgraded replacement for less than $200 in our half of the globe. You benched it, you tried to fix it, and now you want to share your experiences and wonder if we have done the same?
IIRC my last field fix was a Mitel 1448/1449 chipset for SMDR. The next time it happened, I spent the $100 and bought a replacement board. The profit was the same.

P_TNZ, out of curiosity, why didn't you replace the memory battery? That's what supports the program during a power outage.

Thanks for all the feedback, you are right! I realise that spending more time on this is futile. But interestingly in our part of the world the unit has a CAP instead of a Battery! This is what i have replaced and that fixed the problem.I just thought that i was overlooking something else which one of you experts already have done.I'm actually new to this game!! Thanks anyway. It's a real learning curve for me.Keep up the good work guys!!Might see some of you in this part of the world with WORLD CUP next year.

Howdy howdy.....I too deal with Panasonics all the time. My problem is that the doorphone never seems to work with standard type phones; works OK with the system phones. When the doorphone causes a ring, It's difficult to talk to the person at door using a standard cordless phone. Is there something in the impedance of that doorphone mike/speaker?
I'm using a new panasonic expandable phone system as extension 12.
