I have an 8x24 system (Iwill refer to this one as existing) (DR5 Release 02) with a two module card (copper) for expansion. I just purchased another 8x24 (I will refer to this unit as new) with a (6) module card, (2) 0x16 units and (1) 12x0 module (DR5 Release 01). I wanted to utilize one of the 0x16 with the existing unit, so that in the final configuration I would have a unit with 8-line and 40 extension capability (existing) and the other would have 20-line and 40 extension capability (new). I took one of the 0x16 units and connected to the existing unit and it will not recognize the new extensions (0x16 unit). The phones flash, the first 24 come in sync and the rest flash a little longer and go dead. Under maintenance the module is not recognized. I tried the 2 port module expanison as well as the 6 port module in the existing KSU and neither makes a difference. I took the new KSU and connected to the same phones and the 0X16 and it works fine. Is there a compatibility issue between these two KSUs? or do I have something in config to recognize when a module is added. The only difference between the two KSUs that I can find is the DR5 software is labeled differently as far as release.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Charles

you may have a bad expansion port on the existing ksu. did you try the TM on the exisitng. see if you get it to recognize that.

Neither works with the existing unit. Does this help? Thanks, Charles

Sorry, Did not yet try the Trunk module. I will test that tomorrow. So it could be the expansion port itself, not the expansion board?
I will let you know.
Thanks, Charles

right. you know both expansion cards work as you tried both in the other system. i just said try the trunk module just for an additional test. more than likely the existing ksu has a bad expansion slot and may need repair. look at the pins to make sure they aren't bent or something.

Thanks DARCOMDan: Turns out one of the pins was bent in the KSU/Expansion slot. Was able to straighten pin and now both units work fine.
Thanks, CH
