Anyone else install or use this system?

I have installed it in two places (in our office, and in the office of one of our clients..both on Intertel Axxess systems).

My feelings are mixed.

It runs on a PC with Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP Professional. Moore's law will probably deal with the hardware (I kind of doubt that any computer what doesn't meet the hardware requirements is even running).

Now, to connect it to the PBX, it uses either a serial connection or a special IP connection.

Now we went back and forth getting the serial connection to work as SMDR data comes out of the RS-232 connection on the Intertel. We could get it to collect for brief intervals, then it would stop collecting.

After trying and trying to get this to work, we were directed to try an IP collector (still in beta stage when we installed it).

Our system does have static IP address (it controls two IP keysets).

Now, the Tapit server is supposed to be able to be remotely accessed. The thing is, that only seems to work sporadically. the network drive can be up and running (a part of the setup process), but you have to actually open in explorer to get tapit to access it remotely.

It's as if Tapit is more unstable with it's network connection (the IP collector looses it's connection...but not too often...not even every other week). I have to check it to make sure it's running though from time to time. We got around the remote issue by configuring it to e-mail reports to the person who takes them (reqires Outlook...outlook express won't work...Thunderbird might though).

Now my experience with their tech support has been mixed. We had trouble getting the pin-out about how to wire the serial end to the RJ-45 end. Also, one time a tech gave us an answer like "well, we know it works because we have other customers who run it with Intertel systems" (a big no-no in tech support...a call to our sales rep fixed it though..in all fairness). We are still not sure why we have such a problem with the remote access.

Now, I posted all this to see if anyone else has had similar problems (and may know of a fix for the problems I listed.) Also to document my experiences, and to tell about this product. When it collects information as it should, it's pretty powerfull in terms of reports on phone usage it can generate..both in list and graph form.

We sold Tapit for over 6 years and have never had those issues. I have them on everything from Comdial and Nortel systems.

We've installed 6 or so and had no problems. Like the Tapit for ease of install.

The first one we tried to use on a Toshiba, tapit tech support told us we only needed two pins. That was about as useful as instructions on how a goldfish should peddle a bicycle.

Tech support is fine for running their software, but as far as connections, fageddit unless you know what to do.

One of our nicer customers had a break-in and the computer with the Tappit was one of the items stolen. They filed a police report and all but had not kept the software codes anywhere.

Trying to get the new computer up was a series of emails going back and forth with the salesman telling me that I should have been selling them an update every year etc. Finally the snotty salesman palmed me off to another salesman who took care of it.

Keep the software codes in MULTIPLE places so if a computer is stolen you won't have to go through what I did.

Tapit runs and whatever but I have not done multiple sites so I can't comment on the multiple sites through the web.
