I've had good luck with State Farm. It all comes down to the agent. If you are REAL big, try CHUBB Insurance. Most commercial brokers deal in it for the BIG policies.

Anyway, that is what seems to work out here in the sticks. smile

Policys vary a LOT from state to state even though they may be issued by the same underwriter. If you can get a good referral from someone in NY it'll help.

Isn't this more of an INSTALLER FORUM type question?

That thought crossed my mind too Justin, but I don't think the topic starter has requested Installer Forum privileges yet.

A few years back, I had trouble getting insurance for my new business. Ended up going with an independent agent and a policy through Erie. At the time, I planned to do mostly residential work, so the policy was really cheap - around $250 for $1M liability.

It turned out a lot of the bigger companies weren't all that interested in dealing with a new business, unless you had other policies with them. I assume that related to the exploding costs of Workers Comp in NY state.

I also use Erie, Pioneer 5 star Contractor Policy. Hasn't gone up much over the years.
