I have a customer (shopping market) who wants to cover each and every aisle including a couple in the warehouse and checkstands. My question is what types of lenses to use and if I can can use 1 camera to cover two aisles at a time. I will be installing in the front of store and the aisles are around 120' long. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have installed 10 systems in small sites but nothing of this magnitude. NOt sure wether or not to post this here or installers.

Thanks,

Brian

I think you posted in the right place.
This site may help you in calculating the lens you will need. https://www.discount-security-cameras.net/lens-calculator.html
I always have problems determining which lens I need too.

But the best way would be to go to your supplier's
store and look at their demo systems if they have them to get a better idea of the cameras and lens you will need.

Good suggestion. I have only covered areas say 20' by 20', never a 120 foot long aisle. If anyone else has ever done a project similar to this, your input would be greatly appreciated.

I went back through some old posts and found this link for a view finder.
https://www.cbcamerica.com/cctvprod/computar/access/index.html

This thing is somewhat expensive for what it is ( around $200 )but if you do a lot of camera jobs it would be well worth the cost.
One of my suppliers used to have one for a demo and he let me "demo" it anytime I needed it but he sold it a few years ago. [Linked Image from img103.exs.cx]

It will tell you which lens you need as well as which camera you need such as 1/2 1/3 or 1/4 chip to get the view you need.

120 ' is to long to get a good view from one camera of the whole aisle. you might be able to get 2 aisles on one camera, depending on the hieght of the cieling and height of displays, but you will need a camera at both ends to get a very good image of what someone is doing.

good luck

I have to agree with Sam on this, two cameras is the way to go...the local supermarket around here has that sam set up two cameras on all aisles as well as a bunch more on registers and thing like that
