I find myself looking for the phones in movies and TV shows. It is funny when in one office there is a TIE Ultracom and the next office has a merlin. And yes my wife looks at me and says just watch the show.
My son does the samething with guns. How can he shoot 13 times with that revolver?

What I like is when a beautiful high tech 50+ button display phone rings with a 2500 set bell ring. TV.....should be renamed commercial vision. CV

Let me ask you guys a question.

Do you think there is product placement advertisement for phone systems in movies?

In other words, do you think the phone system manufacturer pay to have their phone system in the movie?

I know that they do it with cars all the time.
Irobot had Audi, some of the James bond movies had BMW, etc.
Pretty much every movie or TV show has APPLE computers.

I wonder is Cisco paid to have those couple of screen shots of their IP phone in the show "24"

What do you guys think?

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one noticing this stuff....my wife thinks I'm crazy!

Yes, I'm addicted to 24.

Did you notice when Edgar refuses to give Marianne a "secure channel", she calls the director, Driscoll, on a Videophone?

It's the new Motorola OJO PVP. Supersexy SIP-compliant video phone with landline and IP connectivity, 5.6" high res 16:9 LCD Display, full duplex speaker phone & cordless handset!

It's a flash-heavy site, but check it out...

In the TV show " American Casino" I think they used a Nortel phone system. I could not see the exact model number.

Hey, JohnnyDanger:

Sorry but all phones on "Wings" (except the trimline at Helen's counter) are 1A2. That was the norm in those days. The phone in the hangar is a Comdial 3564 (a six-button set with a reversible base for desk/wall mounting). The phones on Faye's counter and Joe's desk are 2564's, again 1A2. Pretty sure that Roy's counter was the same. The payphone at the top of the stairs was a Western Electric 1D2 (what New England Telephone/AKA NYNEX/ AKA Bell Atlantic/ AKA Verizon would typically provide).

Man, I pay way too much attention to phones on TV, but Wings is definitely one of my favorite shows. Whatever happened to Crystal Bernard anyway?

Back to the original subject: I know this only too well. It absolutely drives me crazy that the phone in the hangar didn't have the base reversed, therefore the phone was pointing downward.

No TIE equipment on that show.

How come there's always enough time to go back and fix it a second time?

Just remeber that these phones are all props. That makes them all wireless. The most famous error is in Die Hard II. Bruce Willas is in New England but the pay phone is Pacific Bell.
